(temporary?) fix for crankcase breather

In case you didn't catch my earlier post, my plastic crankcase breather-connector broke as we tried to hammer it back on because the hose was too hard. I mean, is there a lot of pressure going from the crankcase to the pcv valve; the plastic connector is what sits on top of the crankcase. I ordered one from the Subaru dealer and he said that they should have it tomorrow but who knows? Is this something that duct tape can fix until I can get the real part? I have most of the little plastic shards but I'm not going to glue them back together again only for them to fall back into the crankcase...
