oil catch cans for the SVX?
i'm getting a catch can soon for my LGT, and thought, "damn, i should have put one in the SVX!"
i don't ever remember seeing anyone discuss this, but i could be wrong. given the SVX's "dirty throttle body" tendency, a catch can would be an easy way to keep it clean. more of a concern for turbo'd cars, the catch can will collect the oil vapor that, when mixed with the gasoline, will lower the octane. the other benefit is keeping the throttle body and intake tract cleaner. here's a catch can FAQ from NASIOC: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=754710 here's a nice, but pricey catch can from Perrin: http://www.perrinperformance.com/Pro..._Catch_Can.htm ....and here's the cheap one i'm getting. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW if anyone does have one in their SVX, i'd be interested to see some pics.

Or you can just trot over to Wally World and buy a cheap water/air separator from Campbell-Hausfeld. I think they are around $10-$15 and are more effective than an empty can (or one with steel mesh) with two nipples.

sellers charge less for the product, and charge more for shipping, because ebay doesn't take a cut of that. for example, i bought a car charger for my cell phone on ebay for 1 cent, but shipping was $6. so i got it for $6.01. so the catch can would be like $33 shipped. still much cheaper than Perrin or Greddy units.

Oh I thought this was going to be about catching oil that LEAKED out of the SVX. Catch trays under the engine for valve cover and rear seal leaks.
I think that if all you are concerned about is the dirty TB than decreasing the blow-by may help. Besides all the other stuff that is discussed here to help this, PVC valve one of them, you may want to try a quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer at your next oil change. It should help if the engine is NOT using lots of oil.
