O2 sensors - will these work in my '92?
Hey guys,
I need new O2 sensors and I happen to have a set of Bosch three wire O2 sensors in my shelf. What I need to know is whether or not if they will work in my '92. According to www.oxygensensors.com, I need a set of Bosch 13419. The set I have in the car currently is a set of Bosch A 24-A31-200-13143. The set that I have on the shelf is a Bosch 967-29-61, 0 258 003 953. Both sets have lots of numbers so I'm not sure what is the actual p/n vs some other manufacturing data. My questions: both sets have two white wire and one black wire AND if (I haven't checked them) they have the same thread size then can I simply splice in the new set into the oem plug? Do all sensors produce the same mV signal linearly based on the amount of O2 in the exhaust stream? Do I need to know which white wire does what? What is the function of the three wires? I can only assume that both white are for heater, and the black wire is for mV signal? If this works, this will save me tons of cash! TIA. Ali '92

my 2 cents

Just changed mine, I chose Bosch 15726 Universal (splice connect). The white wires are the heater, the black is the signal wire. My old (Bosch) have an OE plug connector, numbers on sensor: A24-A31200 19102. I'm the 2nd owner of this 92 SVX, I was pleased to discover the sensors had been replaced on schedule, OE were Denso, right????? If you splice, you have to cut the old sensor wires and splice the new wires in. The only trouble I had was the plug connection, very hard to get apart. I saved about $80 by using the splice connection. Very noticeable improvement in throttle response and better gas mileage.

I too spliced in the new sensor with the oem connector. Everything seems to be fine and no more CEL.

I just thought i had to replace an O2 sensor but it turned out to be a broken wire at the plug near the engine. The other plugs had wires that were in n ot such good shape too. So you might want to check that as well.
