I have been trying to make a SVX body for a while now. Not working and draining money into an R&D for now.

Perhaps we should combine forces.

Admittedly I know little about this, but I have seen vacuum formed pieces made before in a kitchen setting. Is the problem getting a SVX body for the mold making?

I don't have one to offer, just wondering how one goes about this.

Chances are the mold of the SVX needs to be carved out of something... like clay... sort of like making a real car...

Who here has one of John's (AKA John 19688) model SVXes?
The "old timers" here will remember his efforts to market a finished or unfinished 1:24 scale metal SVX. I know he delivered a few. I ordered a finished one at the time, but he said he was overwhelmed, & asked if I would settle for an unfinished one. I agreed, but then John dropped out of sight, & to my knowledge, hasn't resurfaced.
Anyone else hear from him?

Ron.

Is he still around?

Opps...yeah 1:64. Well, about 3" long. I DID get my calendar.
I think his web site's still alive, but no response from him personally.

Ron.

I don't care about the calendars though. I do wish those SVXes are a little bigger than 1:64.

Ron, Lwin,

I called John's number several times. I left messages for him. No response. I hope he's ok.

I will see what i comeup with i am thinking 1/10 lexan so either 190mm or 200mm wide. The paint goes on the inside of the body and the paint will really shine. I will see whati can find out, may not be happening though.

Hey, Les. Post the wheelbase and width info of the R/C chassis you would intend to use. I take it it would be an AWD electric model. This project has me intrigued and I just might make the body model to do the vacuum molding on. I will also do some research on vacuum molding. I've been waiting to get a Microsizer with a Skyline body that I can modify to look like an SVX but a 1/10 AWD SVX might be even more fun. How much do you know about the 1/24th scale AWD R/C cars? Such an SVX animal might be easier to produce and afford. I hear they are great performers and look like a blast! Let me know those specs and I will PM you as things go

A local shop sell 1/10 ratio 180-200 mm RC bodies for around 15-25 each. I have 2 bodies for my AWD electric RC car. Been looking out for a SVX like body so that I can modify eversince for about a year and half now.

I'd imagine it would be pretty tough to modify one of those thin lexan bodies, Lwin. Any trimming or sanding would leave it full of holes and any body filler would just crack off due to the flexability of the lexan. I was going to modify a Skyline Microsizers body since they are kinda cartoony and innacurate in the first place and the shape of it lends itself to an SVX remodelling rather well. If you have any luck with an accurate Lexan body let us know
