Can anything be done to deter rattles

Even with the slightest bump, crap everwhere rattles. When accelerating hard, the force causes the dash creak. It doensn't come from one spot, rather everywhere (dash, seats, doors, etc) The hard suspension doesn't help.
Can things be tightened up? Is there some means to fix this?
Someone mentioned earlier that the rear deck and door locks are prone, but I don't think those are an issue in my case.

Was yours ever in a crash? Cause mine has 105k miles, and is 13 years old, and doesn't have even one rattle.

Also, hard suspension??? Not in mine...mine is just a bit firmer than my moms A6.

Actually, my dash does creak for the first 5 minutes after i turn the heat on...it needs the TSB update.

Try to find out about if your car was ever in a crash.

I stopped some squeekin' by taking the door panels off and tightening all the little screws on the inside of the panels...it helped.

If it is body parts rubbing, you may be able to reduce the squeeks with silicone spray, depending on how big an issue it is.

My dash and lots of other interior parts were taken out then put back in. It was necessary to repair damage resulting from a stereo theft. I saw the interior of my car while being repaired at the dealership. The mechanic took out alot of stuff.
As this occurred over a year ago, I think it's a bit late to go back and say "you guys screwed up." Assumming this is the reason.
The thing is, is I usually have my stereo cranked, thus haven't noticed it as much as the average person would have.

This sound like a good idea, and perhaps, replacing broken brakets.

I'm sorry but I'm not familiar with silicon spray. Where would I spray it?

If there are body parts that are rubbing against other body parts, they can squeek.
It's a crude method, but it can some times help.
i.e. plastic grommets that join components like door skins, where plastic meets plastic, etc.

The only option I see is to take it apart and reassemble it with foam or something between the dash and whatever it rests on.

I'm going to be doing that this spring.

If you take it all apart, spray the plastic parts that can't be foam'd with silicon spray. the same stuff you use to waterproof shoes.

Am I correct in assumming that you've got rattles aswell?

Is this a normal thing?

I don't have an SVX yet, but I have had rattles a squeeks in numerous cars.
The silicon spray does help rattle, it only helps plastic against plastic squeeks.

The silicon spray removes the friction between plastic parts, and its not corosive of dangerous. and its easy.

But I agree that taking the car apart is the best way to resolve the rattles.

But can be frustrating if you dis-assemble and re-assemble and the rattles are still there.
My experiences have been rattles in doors, dashboards, and sunroofs, in other than SVX's.

So take my advise with a grain of salt.

Squeeks can be fixed with silicon spray without taking anything apart...if your lucky. It a quick fix, and usually last a while.

Well, it is a 11 year old car, and it has a 139,970 miles on it, so yeah, it has rattles. Nothing to obscene, and nothing REMOTELY like my neon (rattlebox), but yeah, it has a few. The most annoying one is from the drivers side door, it happens when I'm playing music at just the right frequency, its the door panel vibrating against the frame. I'm going to fix that when I install my stereo this spring.

I have squeeks too . I've noticed that it comes from the cd cover, the cigarette lighter and doors. The dash and pillars seem to do creak when the car is warming up. anything you can do about that creakage??

On early SVXes (92 & 93) there was some kind of TSB where they removed the dash and put some kind of foam rubber blocks under it to stop the creaking and squeeks.

Good Luck.
