I've heard this somewhere before...

<just be creative with the stuff you use and tell the teacher some BS about how it is special to you>

Yep, if there is anything we teachers love to hear.....its the old BS.
(kid today told me the dog chewed up her notebook....well, at least it's a bit different than eating her homework... )

Sorry I can't be of much help on the art thing...

....the last thing I did artistic involved Play-Doh. Don

Wink Re: Help! Final Art Project Due Tomorrow!

Anyone know any quick and dirty art projects?

Requirements:

Must be 3d. This is a 3d design class.

Yes, Rob - I have an A+ comin' your way.

You go to a petting zoo & "borrow" a burro. (D-onkey).
You then go to your parts bin & assemble a pile of Neon (D-odge) parts that fell off during your racing days. You then use (D-uct tape)
to attach the various Neon parts to the donkey's anatomy. Suggest hubcaps for the knees, headlights taped on the ears, etc. (Hey, be creative, it's YOUR project). Now you've got a performance art spectacle called "A Neon that hauls ass" (or... is it the other way around)? You'll need to find a certified artist to pronounce it "art",
but I'm sure your classmates will grovel.
Glad I could help!

Ron (AKA Christo).

Years ago I was in the Huntington Hartford Museum of Mordern Art in midtown Manhattan to view an exhibiton. I was walking around and hanging on the wall was a wooden board with a pair of paint stained jeans mounted on it. The jeans had been molded into the shape of a bull's head. The legs were the horns and the torso was the bull's face.
The caption read "Toro." It had been done by some famous Russian artist. I forget who. It was listed at $37,000.
I couldn't stop laughing. Rosie was embarassed to say the least. They almost threw us out of the museum.
In the art world there's no accounting for taste and gulibility.

One floor up, I was awestruck by Dali's "Crucifixion." It was inspiring and cubism at it's best IMHO. That was the only time that I saw that particular work in person. It is still vividly etched in my mind.

In the Milwaukee Museum of art there's this one piece that pisses me off everytime I go there: Its three BIG canvases, about the size of a VW beetle, on the wall. One is painted solid red, one solid blue, and one solid yellow.

I hate that crap. >:|

I have seen the exact same piece dozens of times, every time I visited that museum.

Is it art? Well, that's entirely subjective. Somebody who runs that museum thought so, and they're most likely in a position of such responsibility for good reasons. So think about why that person might have bought it and put it there.

If something so simple doesn't lead you to any thoughts or feelings at all, don't blame the artist. I can understand that some complicated, frenetic pieces of artwork leave some people confused and at a loss for what to say, but those three canvasses can say something different to everybody who looks at them, and they can do it so easily because there's just no missing them.

Am I full of it? Maybe. That piece used to make me laugh, too. Some modern art still does. Some of it's not really supposed to.
