Another Wreck

Take one more '92 off the list. My black '92 was slammed into at an intersection last night. I haven't looked at the damage in the light yet, but the roof buckeled, the control arm snapped and well I will just post some pics soon. I haven't seen the police report yet but one cop told me I was at no fault, which I already knew. The guy had, I think, a Ford Escape. Everyone was fine including the BABY HE had in the car. He was trying to make it through the red light. What a dope. I will have to contact my insurance company on Tuesday, and hopefully get everything started.

I wish I had gotten his wipers though.

Larry

Dangit, Larry! Sorry to hear it. Start looking for another, although, I hope they won't total yours (probably will, though).

Damn, Larry, I'm really sorry to hear about that.

Red-light-running is at epidemic levels around the country. In my opinion, one thing that helps protect innocent people is delaying the time between one direction turning red and the other turning green. In Ann Arbor (and all of MI, as far as I've seen), there's no delay so you get the green just as the other road gets the red. If you don't look both ways first, you won't see the five cars still plowing through the red light.

It's a shame that the other driver was so careless with his own baby on board.

Start looking for another one - sounds like yours is a loss, sadly.

Real shame, Larry, sorry to hear it. It does indeed sound like they will total it though. It amazes me that, here in PA at least, there are less points accumulated for running a red light than there are for speeding. Seems to me that a speeding car moving with traffic flow is far less hazardous than a car that is running a red light. I dunno...life is unfair sometimes. I'm just glad his baby was not harmed and hope that he learned his lesson the easier way.

Maybe instead of playing around with video and stuff, Lwin should work on developing deflector shields.

Phasers on stun, warp factor 9, Scotty!

The gentleman is really fortunate that his child wasn't hurt. There seems to be an epidemic of red-light running in this country. Unfortunately, it appears that governments are seeing this as a revenue-enhancing opportunity, rather than a problem needing a real solution.

There's a study showing that intersections with those red-light cameras have a higher incidence of accidents than ones without.

I'm also very sorry about your car. These babies are irreplaceable.

theres about a 1 and a half second to 2 second delay here in washington. It has (I think) reduced a lot of intersection accidents here. but they still do happen, from people who aren't paying attention to the road.

It's the same in KY and IN. Trouble is, people tell themselves, "I have 1-2 seconds to blow the light," and end up negating the purpose.

One of the reasons for that is that the cameras are furnished by the manufacturer in exchange for a percentage of the ticket revenue. Several municipalities have been caught reducing the timing of the yellow cycle to increase the number of photo tickets.

Larry, that's a sad sight to see. I'm very sorry that this happened to you, but also glad that you and everyone else involved is okay. I wish you the best of luck finding a new SVX.

Man, the other guy must've been going pretty fast to break the suspension arm like that...

Every time I see wreck photos of an SVX I am amazed at how well they seem to fare in accidents. Even some of the more horribly totalled cars show comparatively little damage to the passenger compartment.

How fast was the other car going?
