That is pretty hilarious.

As for where I found it, it has been sitting in a barn in Ohio collecting bird crap for the past 2 and a half years.

Re: Possibly worst shape SVX ever???

Nate,

Good luck with this car. I am so looking forward to seeing the ending results even if she becomes a more of a donor car. I am certain you will get your money’s worth. It does seem it would be allotting of your time and effort, though. May I suggest hosting a few SVX parties in efforts to stimulate some excitement, may be some free labor would be the approach. You supply the drinks they offer manpower. ;-) Keep the pictures coming!

fwiw, you'll probably spend more time remnoving parts, and taking more pace storing them, and taking more money and effort to list and sell parts than it would be to just keep the car intact and fix it up

Re: Possibly worst shape SVX ever???

Well, I'm in the process of cleaning up the seats today since it is finally getting nicer(a whole 48 degrees). Forgot to take before pics of the passenger seat but have pics of the passenger next to the drivers seat. I must say they its in rather good condition.

More pics to come when I'm completely finished

I agree, looking good, who would have thought that possible after seeing those original pics.

Re: Possibly worst shape SVX ever???

With regards to maintenance of the leather, it's a good idea to periodically check and moisturize the top of the rear seats, the headrests and in between. This is where the sun shines most directly on the leather and will dry out/crack the soonest. When I checked mine last year the leather had tightened so much that the seams had opened up and the threads were pulled completely taught.

Re: Possibly worst shape SVX ever???

Well as it turns out, there are multiple wires that are cut So that pretty much makes sense there were electrical issues. It also still smells like barn on the inside(even with the interior out) that will probably never go away and the windshield does have a crack in plain view which is illegal in Wisconsin. Due to these reasons I am parting this car out completely I will start a thread in the for sale section and people can PM me on parts they are interested in. I will not put pics up in the thread but will rather send pics of parts via PM to people interested.

This thing is rough though. The inside still smells like musty barn even with all of the interior removed. The whole car would probably need to be rewired. Windshield is cracked right up the middle.
-By the way, anyone know how to remove the windshield and still save the moulding? I figure that at least may be useful to someone who is getting a w/s installed and either ruined or don't have their old one. Or can I just have some fun with a BFH

Re: Possibly worst shape SVX ever???

Yeah, I saw your thread. I'm just sayin that I don't think its worth it for me. In Wisconsin it is illegal to drive with any type of crack in the windshield even if it is out of sight so right there I'm looking at a $300+ investment, will need a transmission-more $$$ that I just don't have. Also the front calipers are rusted beyond anything salvageable and quite possibly the rears as well. It needs an alternator as the one from the car has the terminals rusted away almost completely. I also don't know if the engine will actually run or not as well...
I had high hopes for this but seeing the wires cut was a big disappointment and although I am pretty good with wiring and electronics, I just don't see myself being able to figure it out as there are cut wires in a few places that I have found and I don't know why.

Re: Possibly worst shape SVX ever???

I'll try to get a bunch more pics of everything tomorrow when I go out there again. I have already removed some stuff from the engine bay but did so carefully enough that I can change my mind again and put it back together.
I also feel bad because it is at my friend's dad's place and although he has the room, he does get kinda crabby over stupid stuff and I don't want to piss him off by having it out there forever.
I guess the biggest problem for me right now is that I don't even have the money to buy a few used parts to even attempt to get this going. I got a bad MAF(Thanks Tim) coming in the mail so I at least had something to hook up. I have an old cone style filter I was gonna throw on since the stock airbox is missing. Still need a starter, alternator, and somehow figuring out the wiring... If you can't tell I'm still on the fence as to what to do. Deep inside I REALLY, REALLY want to solve the issues but my head is saying that it is more sensible to part it out. Wish there were people with knowledge on the SVX around here.
