Clicking noise in front axle

I have a 1992 SVX.

I have a clicking noise in front right axle only when I turn hard right going slow and on upward slope. I thought it was the drive connection from wheel to transmission as that is common problem on most front wheel drive cars reguardless of car manufacturer, so had a local shop change out with remanufactured unit after discussing with subaru on phone and local shop.

Noise came back about 2 weeks later after no noise after change out.

I am about to take it in to dealer to diagnose but figured I would try forum approach.

Review of other forums suggests it might be wheel bearing or transmission, both of which I have guessed but wheel bearing discussion is discussed mostly in relation to the rear of car.

Car has 105K in miles.

Thanks for help.

Clicking on turns is almost always the front axle(s).

I consider it best to change both at the same time. Some people have also mentioned that some rebuilt axles were no better than the ones they replaced. YMMV.

Welcome to the site and enjoy your stay!

Some rebuilt ones have been know to crap within a short period after installation. It should have a warranty so I'd recommend you get another and have it put in.Could also be the front diff But check the axle first. Good luck.

i actually have the same thing...and i do notice it on right ....actually both ways....///////i dont remember now..the last time was the right turn..
i had noise from the front end before thinking it was struts bottoming out and other sounds
....but the link rods were replaced and got rid of a lot of the noise/almost all of it.

i'm not sure if it is the same thing...but it is something you could get checked out..

and on a side note ~ it does seem that i am diagnosing my own car for the things to fix/replace on my own car because the mechanics dont seem to be able to do it . the worst thing about it is that i'm not a mechanic or know much about automech

Come to think of it there was a sort of clicking noise while turning when my inner tie rods went bad.
