Engine rebuild advice

Is there Anything that can be done with the SVX engine besides a standard "OEM parts" rebuild. Any cams, or fancy valve porting? Anything??

you first need to find a good source for reliable yet inexpensive bearing sets. Not to mention ring sets also. The OEM parts will cost you almost more than a Stage 3kit

There will be some info posted soon on cams. If you want, you can port, but make sure that you don't remove too much material. IMHO, the SVX motor isn't really that tough. Tom is right about finding bearings.

Not sure what ya mean. I'm pulling the engine from the 94, rebuilding it, then swapping it into the 92.

I have no idea what I'm going to do with the engine out of the 92. I bought the car with a known and very aggravating click in either a lifter or valve on the driver's side. I dread stopping at a red light.

You can always contact Paeco or Crower for better aftermarket engine components. It is a matter of how much you want to pay for the rebuild. You can ask for Forged Pistons and Titanium Cams... Deves Rings...Oooops, i said too much...

I never heard your 94 engine run..... But if it was running fine before you started having electrical problems I would mess with it. And instead the 92 engine will be a better prospect to rebuild since is not running good. I also notice that valve and plus is not running smooth. JUST A THOUGHT!!!!!

It's running smooth as silk now. I replaced the exhaust and installed brand new oxygen sensors on both sides. The previous owner had taken it to a shop and they "jury-rigged" in some generic O2 sensors. He probably never even knew they did it. Or maybe he did.

Would you believe it even shifts like silk after installing new O2 sensors? You'd never think the O2 sensors would make a difference in shifting, but that was the only thing I had changed. The car just "flows" into the next gear now. Ultra smooth. Incredible. The difference was outrageously noticeable.

But.... That click is still there. I tried washing it out, and soaking it out.... but still....click,click,click. I even stared at the intake manifold! That didnt help either!

The 94 had a barely audible click to it too. You had to listen for it, but still.... take care of it prior to swapping out.

Rebuilding the engine in the 92 would put the car out of commission, and that engine has 157k on it. The 94 has less than 80k, and the car would only be out of commission for a weekend as I swapped engines.

What was the price for the O2 sensor and where. Know the higher mile engine I believe will be the best prospect to be rebuild. And what i ment is to live the 92 for the project. Swap the 94 just the way it is and the the 92 put it aside to be rebuild. I know it will take a long time to try to find the right parts to maybe reduce compression and maybe turbo or supercharge it safely. I want to do that but right now no money and no spare engine to mess with.....

Wouldn't be easier to buy a short block, and go from there
