EG33 Q's

I was wanting to know a few things about the EG33. are all EG33's closed deck. are all DOHC. do all have 6 exhaust ports. do all have a 230hp stock rating. is there a stronger engine year. do any have a better thrust bearing. different compression ratios? are all 4 valves per cyl? what is a good price for a used but running EG33? i found one for $750 for engine and ecu seems a bit pricey. what tranny can i bolt it up to any ej series what about an adaptor plate for ea82 series 5mt? any info would help

Significant Technical Input
All EG33s are identical and, unless I'm mistaken, only came in the SVX. All are open deck engines.

Beav - you are right. Subaru told us at the 10th Anniversary meet in ID, that the only car they put that engine in was the SVX. It was too expensive to put into any other car that they have produced.

I thought that the EG33 was a closed deck block

Nope. Search through this site and you should find a couple pics with the heads off.

what is a good price for a used but running EG33? i found one for $750 for engine and ecu seems a bit pricey. This is a good price with the ECU depending upon miles and condition of course

what tranny can i bolt it up to any ej series what about an adaptor plate for ea82 series 5mt? any info would help
Any trans the bolts to an EJ series Subaru motor will bolt to an EG33. I don't believe that there are adapter plates for EA series transmissions and I alos doubt that these early boxes can handle the torque output of the EG33.

Best of luck with you project.
