Engine cuts out

Hi, I just bought a 92 LSi and joined the brotherhood. I have an annoying problem. My engine cuts out momentarily then usually starts right up again, so I just feel it as a hesitation, but if I am not going fast enough for it to re-start itself, I have to change into neutral and start it with the key (it always restarts). This can be a bit tricky, especially when cornering hard and the steering goes dead.
It often seems to happen after I hit a bump, but not everytime.
Anybody heard this one before?

Ive heard of our cars sometimes idling real low and stalling when you come to a stop, however what you describe sounds like an electrical problem. I would start with making sure the battery connections are good, then look over the engine grounding points. If that doesn’t work go through all relevant connector plugs and look for corrosion. Have you noticed if this occurs more so when it’s humid than dry? If all this fails, then youre left with either a faulty computer or sensor.

Also does the check engine light ever come on? If so you may have a dying sensor.

Thanks for input

No, the check engine light does'nt come on, so I can't interogate the computer, and humidity does'nt have any effect.
I am going to strip the engine down this winter to replace leaking shaft seals, so I can check out the connections and grounds then.
