Hey Ben

This was my second race with the Audi. It is definitely more competitive than the 911 is (D-stock vs. B-stock), and so far a lot of fun (though I do miss driving sideways.) It certainly accelerates a lot faster than the 911

I'm sure I'll race the Porsche a few times this year as well.

Hope you make it down for an event sometime soon.

Probably a little more competative but is it more fun??? Hoping to get down to one of 'em at some point this summer. Definately wanna try to make it to one of the Mercedes as well if I'm allowed.

Of course, I'd like it to handle like this:

but to do that, I'd have to change my class to Bill-Stock

We got 5 runs total.
Mike,
5 runs over two days, or over one day?
Yeah, I'm guessing that Audi has one serious rear sway bar on it!
The nice thing with Konis is that you'd be able to crank them up at the event and then go back to "normal" mode when you're done

Bill-

We got 5 runs per day. I was ony able to make it for Sunday this time around.

Right now, in stock form, the car has a lot more potential than I have the skill to extract. I don't plan to make any changes other than some alignment tweaking... but we'll see. The temptation is definitely there to start playing because this car can be made ridiculously fast pretty easily ($600 chip = 310hp and 370 lb-ft, for under $10K you can easily get the horsepower into the mid-400 range)

But for now, I'm D-stock all the way.

Vids

Rufus,
I got video of all 5 of your runs; they're in my Yahoo Briefcase. It took me this long to post them because I had to upload them from work (broadband connection) in my spare time. It took an hour just to download one of them to my home computer (dial-up connection).

Here's the link to my Yahoo Briefcase: http://briefcase.yahoo.com/green_eyed_lady

Looks like a fast course! Yeah, the 30th and 31st of July can't come soon enough! The SVX will be there along with the minivan support vehicle
-Bill (airport runway concrete versus FEDEx parking lot asphalt.....might be interesting!)

Thanks...old asphalt or new asphalt? (i.e. smooth or falling apart?)

Might as well make it an event. I'm thinking I may make an appearance and ditch the NE regionals this year as we're lacking the tire power to make a good showing. Whats the plan? Is everybody trying to race both days on the 30th and 31st or what? I'm thinking I'd probably leave Sat night and stay over somewhere (any suggestions or offerings) Have tent will travel if I'm solo. Driving a trailered car more than a few hours I think is cutting into my ability to stay awake while on the course if I do it all in the same day.

It looks like you'll be benefiting from a class downsize next year if Fasttrack holds up! Bill it seems the time has come for you to jet out of GS. Instead of moving the Mini up they are doing the opposite, moving faster cars down as "G Stock has gotten faster in recent years with the addition of the Mini". Basically, what they are doing is taking all the older cars out of contension in stock classes which is total crap. I'm sure it'll come back and bite them in the but when in 10 years.

Here's August's fasttrack.

Ben,
Yep, there has been a ton of email traffic on the WDCSCCA yahoo site since the article came out...
