Need a meet

I want to know what the second largest meet this year will likely be. I want to take a drive out west instead of going to Reading this year. So far all I see is the Western Regional meet...am I missing any?

WCSS 7

The West Coast Subaru Show is tentatively scheduled to be on the Fourth of July weekend at the Mason County Fairgrounds in Shelton, Washington. I'll most definitely be there if their arrangements pan out.

Obviously, it's not exclusively an SVX meet, but the last few events have produced a pretty impressive turnout and sound like a lot of fun. The primary draw seems to be to the 70's and 80's Subaru 4x4s with an off-road theme. There are many miles of dirt roads and mud holes to play in within a short distance of the fairgrounds. There's also supposed to be an 1/8 mile oval on site. From the pictures I've seen, there were a fair number of 90's pavement princesses there also.

Aside from WCSS, Dabob Bay seems like a dandy event.

I would bet pennies to dollars that Dabob will be bigger than Yellowstone.

So far everything west of the Mississippi for ALL TIME has been whipped by the awards banquet meet last weekend.

Didn't start out that way at all, it was just our usual little awards banquet for our club, but so many new members showed up that we ended up getting 21 SVXes together at one point!

The only non-Japanese SVX gatherings worldwide that I know of that have topped that are most (but not all) of the Reading ones and the U.S. 10th Anniversary. (Japan still holds the all time attendance record and I imagine some of their "small meets" are around Reading size)

If we can do 21 for an awards banquet, I imagine some of the other events this year (like Dabob) could surpass even that number.

The numbers are interesting, but what it really comes down to is having fun, and I'll bet no matter where you go, you'll be in good company and have a great time.

Yes indeed:

2002 - 10th anniversary (1000 miles one way)
2003 - Reading 4 (1600 miles one way)
2004 - Reading 5 (1600 miles one way)
2005 - undecided

So maybe 8500 miles of meets in total so far.

That would be about 1650 miles one way. My gf also would rather go to a west coast meet as well as she grew up in BC and misses it there.

Yes I received your PM, I've been really busy the last few weeks but I'll be getting your pic on my site asap.

Well my A/C has never worked properly. It was empty when I bought the car so we filled it. It worked but started cutting out at Lafayette.

Found out on the way back from Reading 4 my right rear caliper pin had siezed and it wore one of the pads out.

Reading 5 was the first trip with the 5 spd. The radiator had cracked about a month before the trip. I made the entire trip with a patched up rad.
