Apparently you don't have children or will be leaving them at home while you attend the meet.

For most children, ONE auto event per vacation is too many. They are not as "into" classic cars as we are. If we are looking for other events, I don't think an auto-related event is such a good idea.

On the subject of weather, I had a conversation earlier this week with a gentleman who lives in Kansas City, and he told me that the weather there in mid-summer is hot and humid, but if we wanted to hold something there in the summer, the earlier, the better -- early to mid-June is much more tolerable than July or August.

Of course, we don't HAVE to have it in the summer; I'm just thinking of those people who have children and only one week of vacation per year.

There's a Six Flags in Columbus. Not too far away.

I say meet in Chicago. (the more i think about it, the smaller towns are better. If you have 150-200 SVXes showing up, you are going to have issues with traffic control (and I only have one SVX to block the road with).

Eitherway, my pace car conversion should be done by then and as long as I get to drive at the front, I don't care where it is at.

15th Anniversary SVX Meeting

Well Reading 6 has come and gone. It was great while it lasted. But now it's time to get cracking and turn our attention to the 15th Anniversary SVX Meet. There will be alot of hard work to make the 15th Anniversary SVX Meet bigger and better than the 10th Anniversary SVX Meet (I just love typing XXth Anniversary SVX Meet).

First, I want to thank all those who have already volunteered their time to this project. We still need more SVXers to volunteer to make this gathering a rousing success.

Second, most SVXers want this gathering to take place in the summer. I fully agree. I first suggested Kansas City as a meeting place because it was central to the USA. Now I dont think that Kansas City is such a good idea, because of the really hot weather during the 10th Anniversary SVX Meet. I think we need a place that is significantly cooler in the month of July. I think that the Minneapolis-St. Paul (twin cities) area or Wisconsin (Elkart Lake?) will provide good weather without being overly hot.

Please post your opinions/suggestions, and please remmember that we need central US and not too hot in July. I will greatly appreciate input from anyone that lives in these areas.

Thanks all.

I agree, not being bias either, MN and WI are perfect in summer, and if we go to somewhere like BIR we can rent out the track and really make it a fun meet.

I have no problem with the meet being anywhere since I'm already central but I do agree that the meet be held in a central state so as that nobody has to drive more than half way across the country to attend.

MN can be as warm as Lafayette was in 2002. I've seen over 100°F even in Winnipeg. It's just not as likely.

I recommend the meet be longer this time though. 4 days was good and as much as I would like it to last forever I believe it should be a bit longer.

What is BIR, and since you're already in the area, would you be willing to do volunteer legwork in the area, if requested?

I've been to BIR twice but only to watch drag racing. I love the tunnel under the track!

I simply think that we need to make it as centrally located as possible, even if it means meeting earlier (like late May to early June) because the location is going to dictate the attendance more than the date.

I agree. Also, the more remote the location, the better. Remote as in no big cities like chicago, NY etc. With 100+ SVXes, they are bound to be lost in the cities.
