Front drive SVXs
Do front wheel drive SVXs get better gas mileage then the AWD ones? How about 0-60? Do they also require nearly constant tranny rebuilds? Is it a much different tranny, or is it like the AWD one, just without the rear driveshaft and differential?

I would hazard a guess that they must get better mileage since they have less weight and less resistance without the reardrive components spinning behind them. As far as 0 - 60 I would also guess it's a matter of traction. If you could get a launch without wheel spin they should be as fast but most times than not the AWD should get better launch off the line even with their extra weight and drive resistance.
I don't know enough about the differences to guess at the type of transmission they have. I am kind of curious as well

The one I had(94 FWD), seamed to be a little quicker than my 92(while it still had the auto in it), the FWD's are a couple hundred pounds lighter, and have less drivetrain loss, so the MPG should be better(I didn't notice much differance), and they should be a little faster off the line...If you've got some sticky tires up front.
The ttransmission is the same basic tranny as the AWD one. Same housing, same gearing, just no clutch pack for the rear driveshaft and a different rear housing. The FWD trannys don't seam to suffer as much from heat build up(the tranny killer), as they have less moving part to generate heat. Hope this answers your questions, it's the best I could do

The LSi sold for 35k and L sold for about 24k. That's a big difference. L

FWD?
Hi folks
I didn't know, that they made a FWD Version. They made them only for USA and Japan Market? I never hear about FWD in Europe. Kusi |

My first SVX was a 94 L. One of the things I wish I have from that car was the non suede interior. Suede interior is good but as it gets older, it become really really horrible to look at in the long run.

Yeah Tan interiors are harder to clean compare to the gray interior. Also I have close to 200k miles of usage on those.

FWD
I have a 94 LE FWD (theres actually been some confusion on the "LE" part.)...none the less. I like it just fine, maybe a tiny bit of the concept was lost in making a FWD but what you get for the money far outweighs that fact...for me anyway. I think the quickness numbers are probally close enough where that question may go on forever...yup I'm lighter...but I have weight transfer to hold me back a wee bit on launch. It also seems to be real easy to spin my front tires ...(even on dry pavement)..being a little too antsy to go...not sure but I think the AWD may have a little more of a "grab and go" effect working for it. For alot of us saving a few bucks now and then is a big thing.I just assume have less moving parts to break. Anyway...in short its still a great car.
