What type of refrigerant on 93 SVX A/C system???
I am wondering,? Is it R12 or the newer R134???

Wanna hear something weird? Does anyone here know the TRUE story as to why the refrigerants were switched? Does anyone know the true story as to why R12 is now considered harmful?

Keyword is true here folks, and I doubt you know the truth.

Open the hood and look on the rail just in front of the radiator. It will be labeled there. If you are not the original owner, and aren't sure, then look around. If it was originally R12 and converted the shop that did it is required to put on a label so stating.

My version of the truth is that the government in it's effort to protect us and to play big brother mandated a change to refrigerants based on highly speculative experimental data. It leapt before it looked.

The engineering data collected to date does NOT support the premise that chlorine & fluorine from refrigerants are the culprits in the loss of the ozone layer.

My personal opinion is that the culprit is CO emitted from jet aircraft, fossil fueled power plants, autos, and rockets.
