) I honestly think the Cardinal pitchers did a better job this year than last year. It will be interesting to see what Walt J. does in the off season (no, gettin Rolen back healthy next year isn't enough...)

Larry,

It looks like you might get an ex phillie on your yankees coaching staff. Larry Bowa is about to become the yankees 3rd base coach. He's probably the best in the league as 3rd base coach. He did a great job for us in the 90's before he became the manager in 2001.

Looks like Cashman is a done deal in NY. Theop Epstein rejected one of the red sox's offers today. CMON MONTY CASHMAN IS TIED UP NOW......GET HUNSICKER!! GET ER DONE!!!

The yankees offered him a multi year deal worth 5 million dollars. They are doing anything and everything to keep him. All the papers here and WFAN is reporting that he is 99 percent coming back.

Thanks Tom. I don't think Cashman would have been a good fit for the Phillies.
I think that Gerry Hunsicker (sp?) will be better. Now matter who becomes the Phillies' GM, the first thing he will do is remove Charlie Manual as manager which is a good thing IMHO.

BTW, I mailed that article on Johnny Podres to you from work last night.

The White Sox swept into the World Series championship in 4 games last night. I'm getting too old to keep staying up for these games night after night.

That leaves the Cubs. I hope that they win it in 2006, so the Yankees can come back and take the World Series in 2007.

Speaking of 2007, maybe the 15th Anniversary SVX Meet should be held in October, 2007 in 'Da Bronix'. I think PEARLY might look good in pinstripes and a Yankee logo.

Phillies are close to making Pat Gillick the next general manager of the phillies. A man who built the toronto blue jays to win 5 division titles and 2 world series titles...a man who took baltimore to the playoffs in 96 and 97 and a man who made the mariners into the great team they were from 2000-2003. The man is also 68 years old

and has a history of not making huge trades. Great...he's ed wade with 2 world series rings

. I dont know how this is going to play out but Hunsicker and Gillick are the two guys for the job. The dodgers are trying to hurry and get gillick as well.

How painful will it be for us to have a GM that traded for Joe carter and signed paul molitor..the two guys who murdered us in the world series in 1993.

Gillik, unlike Wade, went out and got what was needed to win. He traded for Ricky Henderson and David Cone at the deadline and won a second title. The Phillies did nothing that year, although they did have some holes. They over achieved in beating Atlanta, but Toronto had a better team then Philly in 93. Position for position I would take Toronto. As a Blue Jay fan before I really got into the Orioles, and felt bad suporting a Candian team, I still remember all the players by heart. Molitor was a class act. Seeing him cry at home plate when he realized he finally had a ring touched everyone. Philly could do worse then getting Pat.
