Loss of brakes on road. Terror!
While driving I lost brake pressure, I almost **** my self because obviously, in a car you gotta stop sometime. I pumped them back to life but am not going to be driving my car.
What I need to know however, is what I'll need to do to remedy this. I figure all the brake lines are dirty and not getting brake fluid to the brakes and has caused my rear passenger brake to seize up. It has been frozen on the rotor for sometime, and I occasionally continued to drive to and from work. I figured it was just the rear brake that needed replacement, but now I don't exactly how I should approach this issue. I figure the lines just need to be, cleaned or replaced along with a grease up. But I'm not confident when it comes to ****ing with brakes and the brake lines. Suggestions would be nice, but it seems I've already answered my own questions. I also can't believe that I spelled brakes, Breaks. Last edited by GgabrielBenitez; 05-25-2010 at 10:20 AM. |

Re: Loss of breaks on road. Terror!
Any leak that big should be pretty obvious, trace your lines from the master cylinder down to your calipers. The weakest points are the rubber hoses like WJ said, and also the caliper seals themselves, which is pretty likely whats going on in your case. Your brake fluid level should be checked first, since if it was bled dry then you were just pushing air into the hydraulic lines which does nothing to stop the car.
After you find and repair the leak, you will have a lot of bleeding to do.... start with the master cylinder, then bleed the caliper the farthest from the master cylinder (pass. rear), then driver rear, then pass. front, then driver front. It helps to have someone pushing the brake pedal but you can buy a special container with a one-way valve if you have to do it by yourself. |

You spelled brake/brakes eight times in your post, and after almost ****ing yourself after not stopping in a confidence inspiring manner its OK to take a break and your brakes are broken, thems the brakes, err breaks, oh gosh I need a brake?? Good luck! Cheers ..........G
