Re: Lsvx-t

Steering is in and working!! It's not the best at low speed and could use some reinforcement at the pass through but it's working pretty well and has got good feel while driving. I've got to dial in the parameters for the speedometer to get it fine tuned but it is pretty close for now. Fully licensed and insured I will try and take it out for a proper rip on Sunday but for now just know it's a hell of a lot of fun

Fantastic!
Fun will be an understatement. That was a fast build. About a year and 3 months.

I'm gonna go with "understatement" on that one. Glad to hear it's legal and on the road!

Re: Lsvx-t

Well, you all should know I'm stuck on the project for a while. I'm still waiting for my tires that I ordered in March. I am also waiting on a cust one piece aluminum cv driveshaft. Unfortunately between mock up and final assembly adjustment I lost my driveshaft angles and now I have a trans angle which is causing quite the vibration at 60mph. So I ordered the driveshaft nearly a month ago so I hope it will be here sometime in June.

I am finished shoring up the electric steering column. I wired in my 2step switch and Mac valve for boost control. I would love to tidy up my cab wiring yet . I don't think I'll be making a dash honestly.

So long story short, I can't test and tune my boost control or my launch control strategies until the tires and driveshaft get here hopefully next month

Re: Lsvx-t

I can't see an end to these supply chain issues. Between Covid and Putin and whatever comes next we will all have to grow a full set of patience glands.
Thanks for the update.

Re: Lsvx-t

I don't buy that. I know for a fact companies are short staffing their schedules and maintaining a backlog as a means to guarantee income and reduce overhead. They are simply blaming staffing shortage and covid as na excuse to keep their customers complacent. Now the tires are stuck on a ship from s Korea I knew they were going to be hard to get when I ordered them. I was advised 6-10 weeks. I am on my 10th week now. The driveshaft I am simply hog tied because I cannot find anyone else to make it. Won't come cheap either. Meanwhile I keep tuning the idle and dbw settings to keep it from manual stalling. Setup my 2 step. And made a new throttle offset table to try and keep wheel spin down. Now if I could only get the wheels back on the ground to see if my theories actually work in the real world.

Tom,

Don't feel bad about waiting for delivery. I ordered a SS watch band ( nothing special)from Citizen Watch Co.on Sept 1, 2021 and was promised 6-8 weeks. I'm still waiting. The latest promise is the end of this month. I'll believe it when I finally see it.

Re: Lsvx-t

Wow supply chains are tangled. I've been pretty lucky with my Porsche 996 suspension refresh, found a guy in Europe who could source stuff that fell to the bottom of the ocean rather than make it to the US when that ship sank. I haven't tried to buy tires though. Still burning off the ones I have.

Re: Lsvx-t

Well it was a gloriously frustrating day!!! I have been calling/emailing the driveshaft shop trying to get an update. Turns out the cv joint itself was backordered until mid to late August. So I did my best to not flip out and asked calmly if there was some other joint we could use without sacrificing performance. Well I didn't hear back for over a week so I assumed no. I finally pulled the trigger on making a custom shaft myself. Using some of the original shaft I was able to machine some bits to make this double cardan shaft you see below. I was so happy to have all the work done this morning only to get the email you see below as well. Happy days people!!! At least I will have a spare.

I still need to make a mount for the dash which I have made work an finish wiring a bit in. Hoping to be back on the streets this weekend all going well!!!

Re: Lsvx-t

So, with my steel driveshaft installed there is some clearance work along with rust removal. Cheap ass wheel arches fit pretty good in the rear. The fronts not so much
