Re: Shock absorbers

Please share!

I'm trying to decide what to do the next time I replace my shocks. I've got AMR shocks on one SVX, and stock on the other.

Was it hard getting the bilstein's on?

Re: Shock absorbers

I haven't actually done it.

Bilstein doesn't make shocks/struts for the SVX, but they do make 'em for the WRX, and turns out that the WRX stuff can be installed on the SVX with a bit of fiddle.

I say again, I haven't actually done this, I read about it on the internet, it must be true...

Re: Shock absorbers

K-Staff in Japan has two Bilstein solutions:

1) Inserts into OEM strut casing
2) Full coilovers

Both bolt in. You will have to try their web page.

Re: Shock absorbers

I don't think spring rate or sagging is the problem with my car, I think the struts alone are the problem.
I live 20 miles up a mountain am very experienced mountain driver. One local tricky bit is approach to a local bridge, closing downhill right turn, final twist is narrow bridge entrance while turn continues to close. Transition from downhill to flat, pavement goes from asphalt to cement, at about 7/10 the SVX crashes down on all 4 corners. (the one time I tried it). Yet in "normal" driving, where suspension uses maybe 2/3 of it's travel, everything is fine. I suspect OEM shocks have lost pressure...
