Harvest Moon Autocross at Cumberland Airport

Well, the RaceCar got another workout this Sunday.
Did the 2.5 hour drive up to Cumberland and got in a total of 10 runs! ($4/run - what a deal). The folks that run the event are great - proven once more when they let me make up the 3 runs I missed in the morning as OT replaced a cam sensor and the water temp sensor
Once I figured out that we hadn't checked the tire pressures after switching the front and back tires (Hoosier Rs to the front, As to the back), the rest of the day was almost a "test'n'tune" exercise as we slowly started to get the front and back pressured dialed in.

The course was fast, but tricky in that the slaloms cones were several steps different between each cone (i.e., no rhythm to be found) and the S going into the stop box really burned off speed.

The RaceCar will definitely get tail happy if you're not careful with the tire pressures (there were two cones that had my name on them all morning! - tagged them with the rear, so I only heard the impact )

I dropped off a set of 295-35/17 Hoosiers on Mustang Cobra rims with OT, so the Pumpkin Carve should be a blast! (oh, did I mention the 275/16 Hoosiers need to be dipped in Kerosene to regain their "stickiness"? )

A big thanks to OT for letting me drive the RaceCar - it was a blast!

Bill
p.s. yeah, I won FP

okay, so I was the only FP car there...

You didn't need to post that. We all know you came in last place in FP Planning on taking the new cat out for some laps with Harry's club this weekend. Why don't you come to Winchester?

Ben,
Great news that your rehab has progressed to the point where you can get back to racing!!
Saving my "racing time" up for the Pumpkin Carve this month, so I'll be missing the MB event in Winchester. Good luck!
Bill

Yes but physically I need power steering still, so I'll be taking a Cat not the TVR. I understand you not wanting to come in last place twice in the same month.

It is kinda like you needing your glasses, physically I can't turn the wheel with my useless shoulder. Wait no it isn't your poor eyesight was caused by drinking bad alcohol, my shoulder was caused by a lightweight drinking alcohol. I was kinda hoping rocket man would show up so I could show how little my bad arm is needed.

Ben,

You're making it very difficult for me to stay away...might need to find a Yugo to borrow and drive it out and kick your rusty butt

Harry,

You think you'll have those camber bolts I sent you installed before this coming Sunday?

Bill

Well I am bringing our slowest Jaguar with nearly corded street tires on it so even you might have a chance. Then again, you'd have to show up first.

Times don't lie. Harry drove his butt off, me I was "learning" a car that is 4k new to me with street tires and rwd in shall we say good duck weather. Bill of course was Bill (though I think he needs a new condom).

Great time, great company, makes me wish I had more time to get out and play. For those who haven't autox and want to the Mercedes club is simply an amazing group to run with and even though it was 2 and change hours away for me I'm home quicker then most local SCCA events with 6 runs to boot.
