Gasket or Fujibond
Was wondering if you guys use a gasket (rubber or cork) or the fujibond type rtv to seal your tranny pan. Mine has developed a slight leak on driver side rear and there is a gasket there but it looks slightly distorted in spots, maybe from over tightening the bolts dare I say Anyway I bought a new pan and bolts. Svxcess had brought it to my attention that starting in late 95 or around that time frame, subaru no longer used the gasket on the tranny pans and used strictly the fujibond sealer. Then I read on a corvette forum that using the sealer is risky that a piece could break off and get caught in the tranny and to stick with the gasket. Would like your opinions and suggestions. Thanks

Re: Gasket or Fujibond
I always use the gasket and light layer of RTV between the gasket and pan. Not needed between gasket and the trans as it's a flat machined surface. Of course, if it's been gouged, then also use RTV there.
People love to worry over what if's. If done properly, there's no worry or risk... |
