My SVX lives again...

I spent all Saturday doing it, but I got the closet full of removed parts back into the SVX.

I made sure everything was hooked up right, topped off all the fluids and had my wife climb in to start the car. I suppose it would have been nice to start it on my own, but I really wanted to be right there watching in case anything was going to fly off, burst or otherwise break.

Plus, I was really, REALLY dirty. :P

But it started, first try, nearly first crank. I let it run for a minute or so, shut it off and checked everything again. No leaks, nothing loose. So I put the bumper cover, lights and grille back on, lowered the car to the ground, and went in to clean up.

I had to be quick about the shower - we were going out to a movie. I could have cared less about another Hugh Grant flick - it was the first trip in the SVX in over two months that I was excited about!

The car runs and drives perfectly. Really, it's a total dream and I am just thrilled to have it again.

I'm having the front left axle replaced tomorrow morning. I'll replace the rotors and pads all around when I get back from Wisconsin. But other than that, this does not feel like a nine year old car.

I missed this car terribly. I'm so happy to have it back that I'll be relegating it to commuting duty all week so I can 'make sure everything's okay' before our trip this weekend.

Thanks to everybody who answered my questions and helped my out with my car. I wouldn't have even tried the work that I did if I had never found this group.

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

Thanks, guys. I wasn't really concerned about the car itself. I was pretty confident that, if I got it back together correctly, the car would run as it did.

I'm just relieved that I did, in fact, get it back together correctly.

And you deserve every second of "chest-puffing pride" that goes along with that sense of accomplishment. Congrats, Nick, and, smooth sailin'.

i know the feeling - had the SVX in the garage for a week and a half doing tranny cooler/filter/gauge and wiring/sub. took my good 'ol time. i was glad to get it done, especially since the AC in the SVX works a hell of a lot better than my other cars!

Significant Technical Input
Can you fix your car? Sure you can, I knew you could!

Made a few contacts tonight and should have a fitting celebratory toast lined up for the 10th. (dang, do you realize how many times I had to type this to remove all all of the typo's?)(hic)(cup)
