Exclamation A Note about benebob

benebob has been banned for 3 weeks. The reason for this is disobeying the rules by baiting other user(s) repeatedly and not following the requests of the Admin Staff.

If any of you still need to be able to contact him and do not have his contact info, please let us know, we will get you what we can.

I will leave this thread open for now. But the very FIRST inappropriate response we see will get it locked, and posts removed.

Please note the rules outlined here.

We take these rules very seriously. With that we expect you all to conduct yourself as adults. This may be a free Country, but this forum is private, and if you break our rules, you will feel the consequences.

And with that... Nothing to see here, move along.

so budfreak has gone from being permenantly banned to now a three week ban?

I've been following this drama and just want to make sure, b/c it seems that the admin staff is uncertain as to what to do in this situation with the continually changing punishments...

No, Ben got a three week ban. Budfreak got perma-banned.

Now I am not an admin or a mod but here is how I see it.

Ben got banned because of the crap he posted... He broke the rules and got a temp ban for the 1st time

Budfreak got banned perminantly because this is not the first time he went out of control. I am sure he was warned the first time and this time he just went over the line.

Either way it sucks eggs on both ends

And he has been given a time out before as well. When asked to just leave it alone, he would not and would not back down.

Yes Tom, you basically got it right. In my years of forum experience, everybody gets at least one or two "timeouts" before they get hit by the permaban stick.

Repeat offenders get hit the hardest.

Tact is required. The point is not to try to get a person to back down, because in all honesty you have no right to do so. Any person must be given the opportunity to retain their perceived dignity within an open forum. You must/should prove/pursuade that they are in error, particularly not in the context of the facts presented, but by way of the way they have presented their case.

It is here that members in general can/should assist in troublesome arguments, by inserting wise comment, rather than by inflating the issue.

The procedures are listed in detail in the Forum Rules under the section called "INFRACTIONS OF THE RULES"

All of the disciplinary action taken is discussed among the moderators to make sure that one moderator isn't jumping to conclusions or making an unfair decision. When a consensus is reached, that action is taken.

Exactly. A group of individuals who desire power, have power.

It really does suck, for everyone involved.

We would really be much more happy if we didnt have to deal with this stuff and could concentrate on keeping the community up and running.

It seems to me (after reviewing this thread and the one on BUDFREAK) that the point being missed is this: It really does not matter what is said (tech or otherwise) but rather "HOW" it is said. Anyone can present most any view on the car they like, but I detest someone attempting to present a view point by attacking or belittling someone or getting nasty in the way they say something. I don't believe it is a "power trip" by the moderators that are banning folks, but rather people that are dedicated enough to spend the time to keep up with what is going on on the network and address it to the best of their ability - and not singularly, but collectively. I, for one, am appreciative of their efforts. I may not agree in all instances, however, neither do I have the time or ability to do what they are doing. Asking the "entire network" if someone should be banned will simply not work. A small group (like the admin folks) is much more effective. And personally, a forum of this nature NEEDS a few admin folks to police the network. Otherwise we would have few people on the network - I certainly will not continue (no matter how beneficial the info may be) if threads are filled with swear words and/or nasty and combative "discussions".

Sorry for being so verbose .....
Harry
