The SVX is a great car... it is a Subaru by nature. Subaru is a Japanese company...the car was produced in Japan by Japanese people. The design of he body was by an italian. THATS IT lose the connection, it is not an italian car... it is a Japanese car... get over it... U want and italian car, buy a ferarri until then... Shut it.

Um the Japanese did well... um... everything?? Yeah thats right... The only thing guiliguardolopolus did was design the body off of several previous designs he made and slapped them all together... he worked with Subaru and came up with what we know as the SVX. The Japanese built the motor, the suspension... well... the whole car... he came up with a look... thats all. I am sorry but there is absolutely no justification to call this an Italian car... It is merely an Italian design and in design I mean looks

Hey I have to agree here with TomsSVX.

Italdesign is a design studio which just happens to be located in Italy. Check out their website. www.italdesign.com They've been designing cars since before I was born. Some of it looks good (SVX and some Lamborghinis spring to mind) and some of it is just plain grade "A" crap. Not everything they designed comes with an Italian flair. It pretty much boils down to what the customer wants, just like any other engineering company.

Now speaking as an ex Italian car owner (I've owned four Alfa Romeos) I can safely say that is about as far as the connection goes.

Enjoy the car for what it is. Japanese engineering at its best. It's very well built, has very few issues with rust (show me a steel Italian car that can say that) and will most certainly go beyond the 200K mark. Though in defense of my 1986 GTV-6, I must say it lasted for just over 225,000 miles. Once again it's all how you take care of something.

This is just my opinion, I'm not trying to bag on anyone.

This is kinda like that swedish foam developed by NASA

I've owned 3 different makes "styled" by ItalDesign, didn't think of any of them as Italian. Just $.02

I say we should make a thesis about the SVX. Development, Creation, Prototype intoduction, final product, problems and fixings in early years, specs for each year and finally the mods that can be done over it...

I know it can be said that the Italian design company was not involved enough in the post design production process however we cannot say that for sure. I mean I don't know how involved they were in the process.

So Yugo's are Italian too?
