DC AutoX Pics (finally)

I finally managed to find the pictures from the DC Autocross. I put the pictures of my SVX and Moms Vett in my folder. Here's the Link.

on a side note.

On a side note. I finally got a decent car to autocross. It's a 1988 Conquest TSi. 119K miles, new struts and tires. Currently it has either a clogged fuel filter of bad plug wires I think. I couldnt get it above 40MPH. Everytime the turbo started to build boost the engine would start missing. And the exhaust leaks. I paid $1200 for it. I figure I got all winter to get it set up. I just need to decide what class I want to run.

Will the tires fit the stock rims?

I also found out that a 4G63 swop is common. Now all I have to do is find a wrecked Talon turbo.

Mike,
They'll fit 7-8 inch wide rims (16" dia). FYI - two of the tires are brand new and the other two are probably at the 80-90% wear point.

Sounds like they'll fit the front, but not the rear. I think the rims are 16x8 front and 16x9 rear. I have to check. I keep getting to storys. Tire rack says 16x7 and 16x8. But the Conquest Club site I was looking at says they upgraded to 16x8 and 16x9 for 1988 and 1989.

Edit for accuracy: 1988 they had a Sport Handling option available that came with:

225/50-16 on 8"rims (front)
245/45-16 on 9"rims (rear)
8 position, manually adjustable shocks

I asked the guy I was buying the car from if it had the djustable suspension. I got a "Yes" for an answer. So I am assuming it has the sport package with the lager wheels.

So the VictoRacers you have will fit the rear, and can probubly be squeezed onto the fronts as well.

So how much you asking for them?

Is that 80-90% left or used.

Mike,
I've been running 245/45s R-comps on 8" wide rims since last season, so I know they'll work. I also know that Dave and Ben have run 245/45 R-comps on the stock SVX rims, which are 7.5 or 7.75" wide - depending on who you talk to . I'm not sure if a 9" wide rim would be too wide for them

80-90% is how much wear the two that aren't brand new have left on them

$325+shipping for all four

-Bill

Decent car? Are you serious? You'd be much better off in an SVX with the proper changes to. A Conquest (I actually like the Conquest) handles quite bad, is slow as a dog and has the rigidity of a body on frame car out of the box (by today's standards of course). Your Sentra is a much better choice and even that has its limitations with the rear issues.

+1 The Sentra SE-R Spec-V is a very competitive car in SCCA G-Stock. The torsion bar in the rear sucks nuts though....

Come on now....seems I read somewhere that you can actually get some negative camber on the rear of the Sentra if you can find a shop with the right set up needed to bend the rear
