Question AutoX guys, STI Wheels....... What do you think???

Alright, well a friend has a set for sale.. He said that he would hold them for me and give me first dibs... They are from an 05 (duh ) and he wants $850 for them... What do ya think guys... Should I do it??? I need a set of AutoX wheels and tires... As far as the tires, I was gonna get Avon Fs500's (I think that's the model) in a 245/45/17 size... The tires aren't really the reason why I made this thread though... The real reason is this...

To buy or not to buy.... What do you think????

05 Gold STi wheels for $850..... What should I do??

850 for a set of rims you're going to beat on? I don't think so. My vote goes to no. BTW, you might want to get a mod to edit that poll to make it so that only one option may be chosen.

Chris,
Wait a while....seems like the STI crowd still thinks these rims are worth their weight in gold. I wouldn't be surprised to see a set going for around $400-500 in a year. You should be able to get a set of 3rd gen RX-7 rims for around $300 and put some 245/45-16 Hoosiers or Kumho V710s on them for another $600-700 (a lot less if you can get some used...)

I'm not really an autox guy, but I voted anyway.
I think bill is dead on with his prediction though.

From what I understand , the wheels are actually kindof heavy. That, plus Im pretty sure subydude sells them for 630 a set.
For the amount of money, theese are probly better. They weigh inh at just a bit over 16 pounds for 17x8's

Scratch that, seems they only carry 7.5 width

2005 & 06 STI's are the same as SVX, prior to that you are correct.

The tribecca also uses the same pattern.

Cool... Thanks for the suggestions guys ... I had my roommate do a photoshop of the STi BBS's onto mycar lastnight... They look alright, however... $850 is alot of money to spend on a set of wheels .... I think I may hold off for the RX-7 wheels... However, eventually I am planning on upgrading my brakes (both front and rear) so I could think about going with 17's... However, that will probably be a while down the road...

If you want a nice set of reasobly priced 17x8" wheels in the 114.3x5 lug pattern - look at Rotas!!!!

Mychailo had some amazing bronze Rota Torques on his former SVX:

While Shotgunslade has some bronze Rota Boost's on his 5mt 94 LSi:

Both wheels have a +48mm offset and Shotgunslade, runs 245/40/17 tires with no rubbing.
