SVX-hypochondria

"Chronic and abnormal anxiety about imaginary symptoms and ailments."

Example: My battery suddenly tanks, and it's gotta be the alternator gone bad, right?

It's a forum-induced affliction.

My rear wiper (got pinched in the trunk) stopped working, MUST be the motor for it!

The guys who did my provincial inspection actually did this.

Significant Technical Input
I especially love cure-alls coupled with testimonials.

"Disconnect your battery overnight! I did and my right-rear tire quit going flat."

I smell things.....
I hear things.....
I feel things.....
I simply sense things.....

just has to be something going bad!

you know, Harley owners put bells on their bikes to keep the gremlins away.... maybe we need to do something like that with our cars......

We used to lose a winch handle overboard from the sailboat every race season to appease the sea demons or whatever.

I think the svx demands more of a blood sacrifice. In my case every time I work on it I end up bleeding from one or more of my fingers.

Yeah, I managed to slice-open a knuckle (on a stupid plastic clip) simply removing the aforementioned dead battery. It doesn't take much.

Driving down the road this morning, let off the throttle, the car starts this intermittent deceleration. The tach needle starts jumping back and forth.

"OHMYGODHOLYCRAPMYTRANNY'SGONNADIEANDI'MGONNAKILLMY SELF!"

And then I remember. "Oh, yeah. It has a tendency to hunt for gears with the tranny resistor removed. I should check the shift kit."

Just a small moment of panic...
