Angry Wrecked my '93

Hi, all,

I wrecked my SVX the other day. Dumb thing, making a right turn at a corner and the driver in front of me stopped while I was looking left. (There was no traffic, and there was no mandatory stop.) Anyway, it was my fault, and the car is totalled because I hit a Mercedes SUV and his bumper overrode mine, wiping out the right front corner of the SVX. The Mercedes drove away. (No one was hurt, I was going between 15-20 when I hit him. I now know what an airbag feels like though.)

I have posted pictures at http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/shotsky1/album?.dir=/2795

I removed the optima battery and the sound system, but left the speakers. The car is in virtually perfect condition except for the new damage. The tranny has about 25k miles on it, it has the levelten control valve modification, and is(was) a very strong puller.

I've done quite a few mods to it over the years, and have kept it maintained religiously. Now has 107k miles. Is rebuildable - and if I had a place to work on it, I might try to rebuild it myself. Here's a list of some of the stuff that'll go with it if someone makes me an offer. If I get no offers, it'll show up on eBay, and I'll sell some things separately.

New 17 inch wheels and tires (see photos)
Stock wheels have studless snow tires with only one season on them - like new.
Windshield is less than one year old, is NOT the gold tint, and is perfect.
Kinetic Concepts high performance exhaust system, with high flow Magnaflow main cat.
K&N filter, but it may need to be replaced.
Silicone hoses
Stainless steel brake lines
Cryo Treated slotted rotors from ART, with their pads
MB Quart front speakers, Infinity rear speakers.
(I would include the sound system with the car but there is a $500 head unit, 3 MTX amps (front/rear/sub) a 12 CD Pioneer changer, and 2-12 inch subs in separate boxes. It rocks, but I will probably sell those items separately to try to recoup some of my money).
Full set of manuals, plus a chiltons, plus the video tapes, and several extra manuals and annual supplements.
Orignial '93 brochure
Other SVX brochures
Microfiche of all the parts
Part manual
Engineering manual (most of you have never seen this book - written before the car was released, talks about the design intent, etc...real engineering stuff...)
Extra headlight bulbs.
Replacement trunk struts
Spare alternator
New (spare) rugs front and rear
Spare visors, both sides
Spare driver's door switch cluster
After market security system with battery backed horns and with hood and trunk armed.
2 aftermarket remotes
3 stock remotes
(I would put the Optima back in the car if wanted, but didn't want to leave it in the car.)
More, but I can't remember it all.

I have a written estimate of the damage from a Subaru body shop. It is not cost effective to go that way - one would have to have a parts car to rebuild this one, or this one could be parted out by someone with the room to deal with it.

Let me know by email if you're interested, at jshotsky@comcast.net.

I'll be out of town for a few days on a mini-vacation, will return Wednesday. If there's no interest, I'll put it up on eBay.

Best regards to you all, my long-time friends!

John Shotsky

Can't view the pics John. This is a crying shame! A second 93 wrecked in the past few weeks. Keep us up on what's happening with this when you get home John. Even if you sell as is some of those spare parts would recoup you some cash on the side.

Glenn

Thumbs up

Likewise John.

Glad you are OK, even if your car is worse for wear.

You have been a great help and an inspiration to me for the last 5 years, since I started hankering after an SVX.

Which inspires me to ask, what might you replace it with, I hear you are not replacing it, that true?

Joe

A not so little compliment

Guys,

This just reminds me I have seen an American [OK, US ] car that is desirable.

I'm talking about the Chrysler 300C. They are way cool.

Back in the mid sixties, Italian car design was in its heyday. And so was American car design.

I know Italian and American design are fundamentally different things, and the underpinnings of US cars, and the engines, were not too sophisticated in comparison.

BUT!!!!

The cars were beautiful. Designs conceived by people who understood the principles of sculpture when it came to shaping metal, people who could give a car the size and detail to afford it road presence, seemingly without conscious thought or effort.

That skill was lost later in the CAD design years, the jellymould years.

But Imagination and Aspiration is back in American motors, long may it continue and succeed.

Joe

First of all, sorry about your loss, I just crashed mine in December and I paid close to 2500 to fix everything and repaint the whole car. I am glad you are ok. Having said that:

Man...another one on the West coast. Who was the guy complaining that everything for sale was on the East coast?? I wish this one was in New England so I could get it.

If you part it out rather than sell it as a whole I will be interested in a few things.

**Looking forward to checking out pics of the wheels when the link gets fixed.
