So far I've bought two SVX's that were less than $1,000 each and needed only a few hundred dollars worth of repairs. The 92 I just bought only has 88,000 miles and it has a reman tranny still under warranty!!! I'm looking at another cheap SVX right now. This one has a bad fuel leak, so I bet I can get it dirt cheap.

I bought the SVreX for $1120, then sold $1002 worth of parts off it, leaving me with a running car for $118.

Add some nitrous, Falken Azenis, Konis/ Ground Control suspension, modified intake, modified exhaust, extra re-inforcing, 6 months worth of blood, sweat, and tears, a welder, 15 overzealous teenagers, an extremely supportive wife, and VOILA! a 13.8 second speed demon for $1996.19.

I do, however, miss the passenger seat. And the radio. And the A/C. And the door panels. And the.......

Wow, that's actually inspiring. Maybe I should save up some cash, buy an SVX that I can call my "Daily Racer," and just sell off the parts I'm going to throw away anyway.

Well... maybe not. But it's still one more option than 0.

Actually, look again. That car could be a good buy. The body stuff is really easy. The parts could be found on this forum, and even my high schoolers have removed and replaced that much. The value of those parts is pretty low to someone who has already parted the rest of the car. The biggest question would be the tranny. You need to know what kind of slipping it is doing. If it is a 2-3 slip, it could be a very simple band adjustment- 5 minutes with a wrench. Many SVXes go to parts over this adjustment. If its not a band adjustment, its time for a 5 spd conversion- a lot of work.

I have the parts to fix the body stuff. And probably most of the parts to fix the mechanical stuff..... might seriously have to think about this.

was I the only one to notice that car on ebay has a salvaged title????? It had been wrecked before and bad if it had a salvaged title..
salvaged title: the car was worth less than the insurance cost to fix it....in this case a 92 LS-L with 167k miles would still be around $3500

You're right- I missed that. Could be a problem to most folks (GA will give a title for just about anything)

I just took one look at that front corner and figured I wouldn't be able to fix it myself. Don't you need a special machine to straighten out the frame?

SVXes do not have a frame. They are unibody. There is only a lot of sheet metal out there in front. If the structural portions of the unibody were compromised, the car would be worth nothing. Can't tell that from the pictures. The salvage title is a potential red flag.
