we should add 'other' to the poll. i like the map lights that do not kill your battery if left on over night . also those map lights can be on at night and not compromise your vision at night.

Re: Climate control, definitely

The "bright" switch they are referring to is not the same as the dash brightness control. When you turn your headlights on, your radio, clock, shifter console, and climate control panel all dim. The "bright" switch at the very end of the headlight control switch makes those items bright again. This is handy when you want to drive with your headlights on in the middle of the day without making your clock impossible to see. Dave |

The law is more then 2 pairs of driving lights. The light bars on top of trucks are not driving lights. They are safety or visibility lights.

2 brilliant features not mentioned:
I absolutly love the light that is around the key hole on the drivers door. Simply pull up on the handle and vwala you can put the key in the hole without scratching the paint (this feature is especially nice for those of us with the security control module that secures itself permanently)
The other feature is the big light ring around the key hole on the interior! It just makes my life sooooo much easier! ~G |

Is that a feature of the car itself, or the alarm system? Jason.

If I'm not mistaken, some of the European models had a "door latch code" for the Security System. Kind of like a "morse code:" by lifting the door handle in a certain sequence you could lock/unlock the doors and set the alarm. Could someone please confirm.

Both 95 builds
JDW - SVX ...both cars one with alarm one without both with beeping drivers door handle when lifted..
Aredubjay ... yes in Oz although I haven't tried it, it is mentioned in the car manual that programming the handle via lifting it up and down in a sequence.....with your tongue hanging out to the right !! so that if you locked your keys in the car ..you will be able to get in !! To Oz owners - do you have a glove box light 2 cars ..no apparent light ..even after standing on my head for several minutes Unmentioned feature - the pre planning fuel gauge...fast reacting to impress on the driver to fill...just how long do you run with the fuel light on ??...and even when the gauge is on Empty ..who fretts when the fuel light doesn't go on and its been ages with the needle on empty..is the bulb blown ?...then it comes on ... has anyone ever fixed this part of the SVX 'character' !! Dave

However, I do have a glovebox light! It is located just behind the latch plate at the top of the glovebox. Note that the light does not activate unless the ignition switch is in the "ON" position! Jason.

My 1992 owner's manual does not mention this feature at all! I am therefore assuming that the door handle "beep" is linked to this feature, and that would explain why my door handle is silent.....! Jason.
