yea or nay

Do you think that at least one year in the future another SVX model should be produced

Only if they make it really ugly. I don't want it to sell, I just want to rob the mechanical bits. Aside from the greedy self-interest of cannibalizing better, faster, shinier parts; my other concern is the greedy self-interest of the original SVX being the first and last good-looking car Subaru ever made. Maybe it'll have a flat-eight...or ten...or twelve. Wouldn't that just rub the Italians the wrong way? WoooOOOooo...

Ah, they'd probably stick an automatic in it - ECVT from a Justy no doubt.

Question I don't understand.

When was the last time someone brought back 15 year old technology and made money?

I didn't vote because of the reasoning behind the answers. the question should be more like
Should Subaru bring back some type of 2 door sports coupe?

Then the answer would be yes.

and I think they will ..... the b-10 or something like that...????

I have to agree with Mitch on this one. Ford brought back modern versions of the 2-seat T-Bird, the retro Mustang, & the GT-40.
GM brought back something badged as a GTO. VW brought back a new Beetle. BMW brought back a modern version of the Mini.

The point is that the first time around all of these cars were financially very successful.
The SVX was not.
Ford will never ever bring back anything called the Edsel, and GM will never ever bring back something called Corvair.

Asking FHI to bring back a modern version of the SVX is like asking Renault to bring back a modern version of the Dauphene to the USA.

I agree. No one (esp. a tiny company like Subaru) makes a car and then sells it for only one year. It takes millions of dollars to bring a car to production. To make any money, each car would have to cost a fortune. Subaru, on average, lost money on every SVX they made......you think they're going to give it a second chance?

The SVX is gone. That's it. Just like a lot of other cars over the years: DeLorean, Bricklin, etc. etc .etc......They had their time, they failed for one reason or another, and now they live on through devoted fans like us. I'm glad the SVX failed. I like the fact that Subaru didn't make 3 million of these. It makes it unique, a rarity. You can't say that about a Ford Probe. Or a Cavalier. Or a Camaro, or a Firebird or a Mustang. Millions of those cars have been made and as a result you see one driving down the road about every three seconds. I love the fact that the SVX is rare...

When people ask me why I went out of my way to buy an SVX, my first answer is always, "Because nobody else has one."

Nobody around here, anyway.

Then you must have a good arm. I'm better than an hour's drive from Chattanooga. But in terms of SVX scale, you probably are the closest, unless some are lurking in the northern Atlanta suburbs. There aren't many Subarus around where I live, much less SVXs. (No Suby dealerships, either.) But when the weekend comes, I do see a few kayak-bearing Outbacks from points south, and there's a WRX that I've noticed hanging with a Mustang Saleen in town.
