Removing the Rattling heat shield...

I've wanted to do this too for quite some time, someone was telling me it could be unsafe to do so...

I want to get rid of that rattling sound.

it was just the shield around one of the rear pipes - i really wouldn't want to remove the ones on the cats, although Mike i believe, among others, has removed all the heat shielding.

The ones at the back I assume are ok. The ones at the front, I would not remove. Try parking your car on a grassy area.

What you might want to try doing is to go and get some hose clamps... Like radiator clamps (except larger diameter)...
Go to Home Depot they should carry them...

(You might need to use two to go around one of the exhaust pipes...)

Put the thing around the heat shield and tighten...

Problem solved AND no worries about safety

Calm down, calm down my friend....

If you have not taken the heat shields off yet, you might want to give a CarX shop all a call and ask if they will re-tac weld the heat shields to the exhaust.. Might not be that much....

re-read - *one* heatshield removed from pipe, all others in place and quiet. removed heatshield is FUBAR'd and cannot be re-installed. i am OK with this.
