Question Looking for SVX-savvy, Boston-area repair shop

Newbie here. Black '96 LSI with 60k original miles (garaged for all but 9 months). License Plate WRAITH. Only mod is the addition of a middle seat belt in the back. :-)

It's exhibiting the "front-end chatters and grinds when turning sharply at low-speeds" problem. I've seen a number of discussions about what this could be, and I printed them out and gave them to my local garage, along with a Chilton's shop manual--but he's really over his head on this. He's going to try getting the special lube (sorry, I don't have the reference in front of me) from a Subaru dealer, but other than that he has no idea. It's a great garage (Holton Street Garage, Woburn), but we're just getting into stuff that's too specific to Subarus, and despite my encouragement, he doesn't really want to become an SVX specialist.

I could go back to Citiside in Arlington (actually, Belmont now), but I'm not that happy with them. When I had electrical problems (turned out to be a short in the power-lock switch on the console) they refused to take the car while I was on vacation for a week, and then when they did take it, they didn't call me when it was ready, and when they did give it to me, they hadn't fixed the problem, and furthermore the battery was dead. They eventually got everything right on a second visit, but I wasn't real happy. I'll go back if no-one has any other options, but...

I'm north of Boston (Winchester). I think I'm the only SVX in town--there used to be 94/95 Red one, but they seem to have replaced it with a Tribeca. Can anyone recommend a repair shop that could handle this? I'm willing to travel a bit if required. South of Boston, Southern NH?

P.S. Since I'm here, anyone have any suggestions on getting a replacement center console? Too many years of the kids climbing over it in the back seat snapped the plastic where it was bolted down.

P.P.S. No, I'm not interested in selling it. (Last week someone followed me for several miles to ask!) There's nothing else out there that's sporty, has four-wheel drive (only way I can get up my driveway, or to my parents' house), can haul five kids to school, and has enough trunk room to take a family of four away for an extended weekend. Someday I want to do the 5-speed-manual conversion though. That looks sweet.

Take the bolts out, add washers... save the cash.

fix svx

Don't know if you are willing to drive to either Manchester or Belmont NH but at the Manchester Subaru and the Belnap Subaru, they have SVX loving mechanics. I forget the name of the kid in Manchester but he is young and drives one himself. The guy in Belmont is my personal fav mostly because he is older and appreciates the beauty of the car. He is also better at chewing gum and scotch tape. Something older cars need.
