Smile Changed my spark plugs yesterday

Well I have joined the ranks of the few and proud who have tackled changing their own spark plugs on the SVX! This was in fact the first time I've changed spark plugs on ANY vehicle! But not the last... I figure now that I've done the SVX successfully, any other car should be easy. Before I found this site, the most I'd done on any car was change the oil. But now I feel I have the knowledge and encouragement to do quite a bit myself. Over the next couple of weeks I'm going to be doing most of the "tune up" type maintenance that I'm sure hasn't been done for quite a while and should improve performance. Going to do them one at a time thought cause I'd like to see how each individually affects things. (I'm just that kind of person )

Anyway, the plug replacement went good, took a few hours since I was a newbie. But I save a couple hundred bucks and to be honest feel a lot better knowing I did the job myself and did it RIGHT!

For anyone curious, I used Ryan's instructions on his website (www.ryanmacdonald.com) combined with a few searched of past threads here. I removed the entire airbox assembly all the way to the throttle body and the battery. From there the only tools needed for the plug change was a regular 3/8" ratchet, a 12mm socket, 12mm combination wrench, 5/8 spark plug socket, and a 6" extension. I did not have to lift the car and remove the fender plugs. Lots and lots of patience though.

I set a record!

How about 10 minutes to change all six plugs?!

Does it matter that my engine was sitting on a bench when it was done?

It depends - can you pull the engine, change the plugs and plug the engine back in faster than the book pays to just change the plugs in the car?
