Should be a lot easier than any of the other issues. The transporter would have done a CR on pick up. Either the damage is on it or it is the transporter's responsiblity. GET ON THE PHONE NOW SOLAR! Now getting anything out of the seller is the tough part without costing more than the price of the car. Sorry to hear about the luck solar.

Re: just recieved my new svx and its not looking good,

**** that! Call the dealer or **** car seller and tell him about all the problems you have from a TRANSPORTED car. Find the add or call autotrader to request details and if they are not what he said the give this pos back or get something back for it. Dont dump any money into this car until something is settled. ****ty dealers like that piss me off! And like benebob said the transport company does a complete inspection of the car and documents it before goes into transport. Sorry to hear man and good luck!

What kind of warranty was included with the car? If the car was purchased as-is, then you will have no recourse. If the dealer is somewhat reputable, they may refund some money, but when buying a car long-distance, it is advisable to have the car inspected by a neutral party, or go pick it up yourself. When you decided to trust the dealer, you opened yourself up to this. I wish I could say all car dealers are trustworthy, but sadly, that's not the truth.

Can I ask why you choose that one? Are they very rare to find in Florida?

I'm very sorry to hear about this.

Significant Technical Input Registered SVX Classic SVX
Re: just recieved my new svx and its not looking good,

Does the hail damage appear to be recent? Could it have happened while the car was being transported? (after you bought it)

Since you paid for the car before it was shipped, technically it is yours and the damage could be covered by your insurance, even before you actually register it with them. You would need some sort of official documentation from the seller/shipper that the car was not damaged at the time of the sale.

Worth a shot. Talk to your insurance company. You could have coverage from the period of time that you bought the car until it was "officially" insured (usually about 10 days)

They are pretty rare. Not as rare as the desert states, but a lot rarer than up north.

Re: just recieved my new svx and its not looking good,

hey guys

most used car is purchased as is no waranty thats how majority of the used cars lots are,

the car has a car fax report through auto check and has a buyer back guarantee or money back if anything is wrong with the car I.E Hail damage

the hail damage wasnt done through the car transport company it was done way before that also, the car was loaded on the bottom of the car hauler and there wasnt any major hail storms from here to chicago

the car seems to have major extense rusting from being up north the brakes caliper is nothing but rust, control arms, etc etc,

the pics i saw of the car was on there website and autotrader we knew of the bumper damage but not the hail and non of the oil leaks,

mechanicaly wise im guessing around 1,500 worth of work to get it back mechnically sound,

valve cover gaskets, power steering rack, replacing the rusted exhaust, and other pieces im probably missing,

as for body work the hail damage is extensive on the roof and hood, the sides and fenders have common wear and tear for being a 1994 model, to get the car back visual sound im guessing around another 1,500 worth of work

the back of the car looks like it has some repair work dont to it the turnk has been rapainted for sure along with the side mirror,,

the auto check cam back 100% clean !

im working with my car insurance company on the hail damage well see if they will total it out if that doesnt work i will go for the buy back guarantee through auto check since the dealer failed to disclose the hail damage,

worst case scenario i can trade it in a local buy here pay here lot for something eny one here would be embarassed to drive and take my losses and lesson learned,

sorry for the ranting,

as i get more info i will share with you guys.

this is my 3rd svx and never seen a svx in the shape,

as for finding a svx there was only a total of 5 for sale all of them look in verry bad shape or reaching 200,000 miles on them, !!

as for you lucky svx owners the clean well kept ones are far and few between !

Sadly, your interpretation of autocheck's buyback guarantee is not correct. The only thing they guarantee is that the car doesn't have a branded title.

Superior Protection Included with AutoCheck

AutoCheck Buyback Protection:

Covers what you paid (up to 110% of the NADAguides.com published retail value) PLUS up to $500 in aftermarket accessories at no extra cost. See terms and conditions for details.
Provides a full year of coverage to protect you from major title problems that we miss from the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Re: just recieved my new svx and its not looking good,

Sorry East Colonial didn't work out. Their CarParts.com listings must be out of date. My first SVX was a northern car and I couldn't believe the rust on everything underneath, and every connector. Two southern cars later, I'll never go back. If you decide to keep it, I'll contribute the window switch (miscellaneous parts I keep around just in case).
Just a thought but, knowing your unquestionable good tastes, wouldn't the body and repaint cost be a given anyway? Maybe a black on red JPM rendition?

thank for the help bwb i might take you up on that if we decide to keep it, if we do its a lot of work and sanding involved

here are some pics its from my iphone so there not that great, but you can see on the hood all the dents and its like this all over the car !! you can also see the extensive rusting on the back end of the car

i might just get the mechanical work done for now, new power steering rack, valve cover seals, spark plugs, exhaust, and rear diff fixed for now and just drive it as a rust bucket with dents all over it
the labor is whats going to kill me

just giving every one a heads up

That hail damage is horrible! I can't believe they tried to pass that off on you.

At least it looks pretty clean underneath.

Re: just recieved my new svx and its not looking good,

Doesn't look horrible but I'm guessing most of the hail damage isn't showing up in the pics. If you do decide to keep it and not have the bodywork done. You might be able to pull some of the dings out using the dry ice trick. I've used it before on cycles with varying success.
