Bad Accident

Got involved in an accident early Saturday morning (Late Friday night), after hanging out with some friends. With no food in my stomach and tired, I apparently dozed off. Woke up to some crashing sounds and my car flipping on the drivers side, sliding backwards down the highway. I hit a guard rail, then another car, then flipped on the side before landing upright facing the highway. Luckily....somehow....no-one was hurt.

*Sigh* This was Chike's previous car and I hardly drove it. Maybe once every 2.5 weeks because it was in 'perfect' condition without any issues. I hated to drive it because that meant something could go wrong with it.

Here's a picture from Reading about 2 years ago. It still looked the same.

And now -->

No need to post much more. The wheels are shot even though they are holding air. I am sooooo glad no-one got hurt. Not that concerned for myself as I have had a wonderful life. I just did not want to hurt anyone else because of this. The tow truck company wanted me to pretty much 'give' the car to them saying it it totalled over and over. Silly peeps! I'm going to get this baby back in better shape than before. It was due for a paint job anyways.

So...here's to whatever body parts I have to give to get it back together. Just be careful driving around and simply don't drive when you are tired. I thought I was fine but apparently I wasn't. Glad I didn't get hurt. Just had a some pieces of glass in my mouth when the window was shattering beside my head. What made me finally decide to keep it is when I started the engine up. Man...it just sounds so good. Too much work went into this car to just give it up. I had planned on keeping it forever anyways (Along with my XT6).

BTW, if you need glass, I know that Eric (It's Just Eric) has a bunch of blue tint that you would need, along with pretty much everything else

No crack! But it is 'scraped' on that side. Will probably need to be changed out. Will see! Gonna suck it up and hope it doesn't cost so much that I give up on it. Like I said, you did too much to the car and besides.......I never did get the 14.9 I promised you.

Maybe I should drive it more.

Re: Bad Accident

What a way to wake up

Great news that you weren't hurt, and that the accident didn't cause a big problem for others. You said you hit another car, any damage to the other car?

Good outcome for an unfortunate situation, got to love the SVX

Re: Bad Accident

wow...as an aside...
there is one in the salvage yard locally that is FLATTENED down to the window sills, front to back left to right...1/2 the height it used to be!

young stud was driving stoopidly and flipped her something like SIX times (!!!) at 80+ mph and virtually walked away unharmed...same with his passenger apparently...

if i get down that way, i'll snap some pics if the yard still has it...

Re: Bad Accident

Yeah, bad accident. You should learn your lesson! Wake up!!
It's glad that no one was hurt.

I have a 96L polo part car. I bought it to fix up my 92 LSL that someone smashed my whole side at the parking lot.

It has been more than two months that the guy who's going to work on my cars hasn't really started anything. Guess I have been too easy/nice on him. Need to talk to him again.

The whole driver side(fender, door, rear quarter are mine), but if you need anything else to help to fix up your 96 red, let me know after "a while".(not sure how long, hopefully I can start driving my 92 before Christmas this year) I ain't going to part or sell any parts until my 92 LSL has been totally fixed.

Good luck on your fix! Glad you're not giving it up!

Re: Bad Accident

Hey, I think most of us have been there before. I almost dozed my way into a toll booth when I was a freshman in college. Was studying a lot and driving several hours to visit my GF, now my wife. Woke up to see the toll booth coming at me. It was raining. The car literally skidded into the toll booth lane. It was a 1974 VW bug. It would have been very ugly. I pulled off at the next gas station and took a nap.

The stories and pictures from you guys give me a lot of confidence in the safety of this car. We'll see how it goes with reliability but, if the car holds up, maybe I will hand this down to my son when he hits 16 in a few years. I think the kids like the car more than I do.
