Re: oh man...
i am wondering if i could take it as a chance of doing a 4.11 swap , why is it harder without changing transmission ? and what is exactly the difference between stock and 4.11 , i am mostly doing highway over here there isn't a lot of hill except for highway ramps or bridges.....that is why i wouldn't go for 4.44 because i read it was better for low speed . is it worth the price ?

Re: oh man...
What colour is the leaking fluid? Transmission fluid is red and the differential is oil coloured. The reason I ask is that you could have 2 leaks. I just replaced the transmission seal on mine where it meets the front differential. Luckily I had it done under warranty before I had the ownership transferred to my name. I saved $$$$.

Re: oh man...
You might be okay, no oil on dipstick doesn't necessarily mean that there is no oil at all in the diff, just means the dipstick wasn't getting to it. Fill it to the proper level and check for noises and such, and keep an eye on it until you can get it fixed.

Re: oh man...
hopefully it's not too late if you don't drive it a lot with low oil.
if it's too late, after a while, you might start hearing some grinding noise...

Re: oh man...
ok...to give an heads up, this may be an hijacking of my own thread.
started a week or 2 ago. while i am drifting i can feel the steering wheel shaking, if i remember i can feel it in the seat too. after reading a few post from other members , i am going to the conclusion that maybe the front diff is leaving me. even if i am going straight but making wheels spin it is shaking. i ain't going so fast "dont have winter tire" but i know that at slow speed it is veeeeery scary . kinda making me feel my wheels are loose any opinion ? where to look first ? edit : thanks. for help

Re: oh man...
when crusing its alright, i didnt get over the 50 km\h. i dont know how it looks like at high speed , but i know when drifting around corners it ain't good at all.
since my wheels are filled with uhh...i don't remember the name in english . it aint conventionnal air. the air pressure is not supposed to change with the temperature. but thanks for heads up . since it is the winter i am waiting this summer to put on new mags maybe this will fix the problem. but for now i am still looking to what could be the problem to be prepared to eventual cash eating

Do you have a way of getting all 4 wheels off the ground at the same time? Or maybe just the front or back two? Then you can shake it back and forth, sounds like you may have some loose linkage, balljoints, etc. |
