Find a Good Mechanic
It pays to find a good reliable mechanic. I just had new Raceconcepts drilled and slotted rotors, new powder coated calipers, new akebono pads, new stainless brake lines, and new rear Timken bearings installed. MINT! Heres how much I paid for labor for everything, $400

New bearings, those I couldn't do on my own. New brake lines, I might not be able to do those in my driveway. But I've done repairs on disc brakes before (rotor, pad, shim replacement) so I know it's not that hard. I'm just kinda short on cash; else I'd get new slotted rotors and new pads and calipers all around. Instead I'm just gonna fix what I can on my own and hope it lasts me a while.
*goes to look up OEM repair kits..* NOTE: Wow, the word filter blocks out words if they're part of other words. I tried to type spanglish and it censored me. |

Anyway since your fluid is "boiling" and you're gonna flush it anyway I would go with DOT4 synthetic brake fluid. It has a higher boiling point than the recommended DOT3 |

Will do.
Ah yeah, and the SVX is back with Mann getting the brake work done. Will be finished by tomorrow. He's a great man, that Mann. But like always I treat this as a stopgap. It'll fix the rear calipers and the fluid, but the car really is due for some performance replacements in the suspension and braking categories. Due time, due time. Thanks for all the help. |
