What about the old US specs bumpers? do they allow you to run on european ones?
I know they are the same for the SVX but what about other cars?

Svxistensialist: I have a Dark Teal SVX which I have always read was also known as Peacock Blue in other markets. This Peacock Blue, if it is in fact also the Dark Teal in the US market, is definitely NOT rare, in fact I'd say it's one of the most common.
Hey a teal is a duck, but a peacock is WAY bigger....

I can't answer this one, but I know how we can find out.

I've never seen a teal in the flesh, only in photos. Arthur has a polo green car, but I'm aware that is much "greener" than teal.

This car of Phil's is a late model special edition, with strange oatmeal tweed upholstery, and carbon coloured panels on the dash, rather than wood effect. I do think the colour is unique to the car, but let's prove it.

What is the code for your paint off the vehicle VIN plate? I think that's where it's listed. I'll get on to Phil, and get him to check his code. If they are the same, you are correct. If not.......

Unfortunately Matt I have removed my stock exhaust because it was damaged. I have a dual stainless setup now

In the right light, it actually looks blue, and I have always been reluctant to call it [teal] green.

Joe only put the figure of 301 on his site after I hassled him through email for months.

I wish I could remember exactly who, at Subaru, provided me with that figure. I believe the gentleman was in charge of North American distribution for SOA. That was three jobs and three states ago.

Does that make the '93s the rarest? I have no idea. I would be willing to bet you could split hairs and find some obscure FWD model with a certain option package that's technically more rare, but the '93s are more recognizable.

Hmmmm...well at any rate, that sounds like a beautiful car. I'd love to see a pic of it. Mine was only available with grey leather - I always thought a tan/beige/oatmeal interior color would look better.

The paint code on my manufacture plate is 269.

As for the imports into the US, the 93 is probably the rarest of the SVXes. If you look at options in years, then you can play with the number until pigs fly. And we all know that they can as per one avatar here.

As for the yellow SVX, I have seen one on a Connecticut highway about 5years ago. Now granted I have no clue if it's the orriginal color. The only reason I know it was an SVX was because at the time I had never heard of them and was like "....what the **** is that thing, and why would someone want a yellow car?" Which was followed by me coming home and scouring the net (and thus ending up falling in love with anything SVX)

OK Jerry, I have the information, we can make some comparisons.

Phil tells me an error was made with the name of the colour. It is actually listed on James' JDM site as Emerald Green Mica, code 434 for the S40 II model, which Phil's car is. The listing for Peacock blue is for the S40 model, the code for that colour is 269, same as yours.

Joe Spitz has a colour called Emerald Pearl listed for '94 cars. He calls it a medium green. However, on later cars he also lists Polo Green as a medium green, and there is no comparison between the colours. This car of Phil's looks blue to me, rather than green, so maybe it is Teal.

Has anybody over there got a paint code of 434? And if so, what is the name it usually goes by?

Joe

I'm constantly struck by the differences in markets, particularly for interiors. I have not yet seen a grey leather interior in a UK SVX. Likewise the tan leather you guys get [and which sometimes seems to me to conflict with the exterior colour], we never get that over here.

By the same token, US cars do not seem to get the black leather interior colour my Black Mica car has, which is strange.

The oatmeal looks unusual, takes a bit of getting used to, but is nice. We will prevail on Phil to mount up the digital camera and post up a few shots so we can all see and compare.

Joe

Joe, the pain code 434 that is listed in the Paint section of the How-To Docs says that it is Emerald Green. I don't know if that helps out any, but I hope so.

Thanks Earl

It is of course useful.

Probably what we are trying to determine is how common the colour is. Also I suppose, is it the same colour as Teal?

The main colours we know are rarely identified by their owners as Emerald Green, at least not so far as I've seen.

The common variants as most owners refer to them would be
[in no particular order]

Pearl white
Black, aka Black pearl or Black mica.
Silver, or silver and black [2 different silver colours, I know]
Claret, which is usually claret and black
Teal
Red, sometimes brilliant red, sometimes barcelona red.
Burgundy, the all-over lighter purple
Polo green, the newer all-over lighter green
Blue, usually Laguna blue.

Those are the most usual colours in the US.

In the UK, there is also the yellow. Also there is the lovely Graphite grey.

In addition, the Japanese and Australian markets had a really nice red and black two-tone, the red being a mid to dark red metallic, very attractive.

Now the question is, has anyone in the USA got a colour code of 434? And if so, what is this colour commonly called?

Thanks

Joe
