Unhappy

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I seriously may go to jail for asaulting a used car salesman. I don't have to worry about the blown tranny anymore, because there is nothing turning it now.... With no other choice but to drive my SVX (my rx-7 is down at the moment also) i made it most of the way to work today before i heard the loudest knocking sound i've ever heard come from an engine. followed by total silence. I'm reasonably sure it put a rod through the block. So to all of you who have running SVXs with no problems... i hate you, but have fun. I'll miss my subie.

Just out of curiosity- does it still crank? Is it cranking 'lumpy'? It's possible all that happened was a timing belt snapped. I experienced that once (on an '87 RX) and the engine made a loud noise and just stopped dead. If that's all it is, it's a (relatively) easy fix and the EG33 (and all earlier engines) is a 'non-interference' engine, so no internal damage can occur. ubaru 'bottom ends' are pretty tough; a rod is doubtful.

Good Luck.

not the timing belt, i replaced it 600 miles ago. it won't crank at all. I'm pretty sure the dealer knew too, but he wasn't going to say. The car shows 144,000 miles, but the registration shows odometer exemption, so it would be hard to say if that is actual.
