Before buying our SVX, we looked at 10 different SVX's around the '91-'93 age group (some JDM, some UK). Probably 50% of the UK models had records of transmission work in the history. The JDM cars don't generally come with any service history.

Our '91 JDM car melted it's transmission 5 months after we bought it. At the time, it was 8 years old and had done about 80K miles.

Maybe later cars were better. Arthur610 and Phil Hill don't seem to have had any problems with their UK models.
That seems worse than the US market SVX situation...

Could the differences in some of these numbers be attributed to different companies selling the same car? I understand that the JDM SVXs have a slightly hgher redline - but that shouldn't affect the power and torque curves, right? Why would the JDM make its peak power at a higher RPM? I would think this would be determined by the engine's internals, which are identical...



Or is it just the difference in the fuels used in the different markets?
