Need help identifying some wires:

I've attached a pic with the 4 wires in question but here are the details:

The pic was taken of behind the driver's side kick panel (note the 2 blue wires )

2 of the wires are black w/white stripe so I'm thinking that a previous owner wanted the clip for elsewhere. Is this for the °F<->°C conversion or is that under the passenger side kick panel? If this is not that plug then what is it?

One wire is blue w/white stripe and has the "gold" color plastic end on it. Any idea what that's for?

The last wire is just black and no stripe (at my middle finger in the pic). It's just cut off and I can't find the other end to it.

I wish I had a service manual...and the neck of the previous owner!!

Thanks for any and all help you can provide.

I think alot of the wires over there have to do with the prewired cell phone option. I think it is strange about the wire that just looks cut off thoe. Why are you wondering anyway? Do they have anything to do with the swap or are you just wondering?

I was just wondering about the wires, that's all.

I'm trying to keep everything as neat as possible. I know that most of my car has been taken apart at least once by the previous owner by evidence of taped up wires, broken plastic, incorrect clips/bolts/nuts/screws...

When I take apart anything I'd just like it to go back together the way it's supposed to. (my driver door panel likes to pop off on the back top and it annoys me)

Well we're making more progress on the conversion. Yesterday and today we've adjusted and installed the shifter. Our goal was to have the shifter centered in the trim panel opening so that cutting the trim would be avoided.

The driveshaft is also installed thanks to a friend of my dad's who fabricated the extension for the shaft.

We put the axles back in and we're currently working on the large heat shield so that we can put the exhaust back on. We're still trying to find where we misplaced the exhaust hanger.

Still to go is most of the wiring for mostly everything as well as basic reassembly. It's starting to get exciting as the project end is close at hand.

Nice going David (and Norm)

I got my driveshaft modified (to avoid the extension and to still use the SVX center mount location) and tomorrow will be picking up the custom step-down stud (12x1.25mm-35mm long to 10x1.25mm-20mm long)I had made to avoid modifying the starter. Once the shaft is in, the car hits the ground for the first time in months. Then pedals, hydraulics, and electrics.

I'm sure Todd just doesn't have the spare time to work on his car. I took over a week off work to work on mine.

I just picked up some plugs today that I cut off a junk wiring harness to use for my clutch pedal switches.

I'm still waiting for the 3 clips I ordered to hold the fuel lines along the driver's door.

Nah, other items keep making it to the top of the honey-do list

It's also not my main mode of transport, so luckily I'm not pressed to get it moving.

I am gathering the parts for the conversion and I got a WRX transmission + all the goos stuff.

From what I understood the WRX has the same final drive ratio so there is no need to swap the rear differential.

Could you gentlemen confirm this?

The 2002/2003 WRX for sure has a 3.90 front diff but because of the 1.1:1 center diff it uses the same 3.545 rear diff.

I figure RPM's at 60mph with this tranny should be under 2400.

Got another question for the 5 speeders:

There's 2 plugs coming out of the transmission (aside from the speed sensor). I know one is used for the reverse lights but what is the other one for? (both have 2 wires)

the other plug

The other plug is for the neutral switch. I believe it is closed except when in neutral.

Hope this helps and sorry I missed you in the chat room.
