OT Saw something interesting today
Im not sure how many of you have seen the first Fast and the Furious movie, but there is an orange Supra in the second half of the movie. I was driving around today and I spotted a Supra that was modified to look just like that movie car, including all the decals in the same places. The driver of the car appeared to be a teenager. A teen driving a Supra was startling enough. I asked a friend if he had seen it before and he told me a "friend of a friend" story that said the internals were modified just like they were in the movie. If I remember correctly, that was supposedly a 10 second car. I would think doing all that along with just buying a Supra would be a huge investment. Any ideas of what it would cost? Made me jealous, I was driving an Oldsmobile station wagon when I was a teen.

They claim to be 10 second cars...
All the cars from the first and second Fast and Furious claim to be 10 second cars in the movie but in reality they are not. They are still fast but the fastest car from Fast and Furious 2 was the Camaro and only ran like an 11.0....there's a magazine out right now that tells the specs from all the fast and furious cars.

Motor Trend, July '03. They tested the '99 Skyline GT-R, '69 Yenko Camaro clone, and '02 Evo VII (boo) from the movie. The Yenko beat the GT-R by .33sec, but only because the AWD had been removed on the GT-R. Still, respectible times for a 34yr old car.

Actually, read the REAL story in the last Sport Compact Car.
They totally rip on teh cars, telling how thrashed the suspensions are, how slow they are, and how fun the musclecar is to drive. Quite amusing. - Rob |

Steering is as much by luck as it is recirculating ball. Ha Ha
Giant fuel leak called a carburator. Ha hA. I loved how they manage to insult every part of the Camaro in the first sentence.

It's just a movie...
They don't have to be fast... they only have to look good.
The camera and cinematography do the rest. |

They disabled the AWD of the Skyline to make it RWD, that way it could fishtail and 'look cool'.

Those 1/4 times also seem to be a bit slow. I mean most of those should be around 1 second faster.
