Moody SVX

My performance and engine quietness vary drastically from one driving interval to another. Typically, in the first period of driving, during the day, the car is quiet and powerful. Then, if I let it sit for 4 hours and drive it again at night, the engine's a noisey son of a b**ch and my power goes to hell.

Even though this is the usuall case, the first interval and the second interval often switch roles. So it really is quite random.

I don't think temperature's a factor, as it's usually colder at night. And from my understanding, cars usually run better in colder temperatures, right? In fact, I've had the car run worse in moderate temps than extremely cold temps.

Why on earth would it be doing this? Anyone have any thoughts?

Does it start ok?

What is the temperature when it's running bad?

Being colder outside may make it run worse if a sensor is malfunctioning.

Hello David.
Thanks very much for the response.
The engine temperature hardly fluctuates at all. The guage always reads slightly below half way.
The car starts perfectly. Although when I first start it up in the moring, it kind of stutters a little (normal) and a little bit of blue smoke comes out of the exhaust. (I don't think this is related.)
The sensor idea seems like a good guess. Do you have any ideas as to what sensor it might be?

It's could be caused by living too close to Boulder (the land of fruits and nuts.) Or maybe you put some water from Rocky Flats in the radiator. Either way you're screwed and have no one to blame but the government.

(dented the rear bumper of my '92 in '92 by backing into the light pole in Laddy's parking lot - 59th and Ralston) (and it was all their fault too)

It's bad, but improving. My so-called buds dragged me out last night and forced me to enter an establishment of ill repute, where they forcibly poured alcoholic beverages down my gullet. (and no, it wasn't Hooters - they were closed. )

The really bad part is I had to work today and they spent the day in the luxo boxes at the track. Hopefully I'll live long enough to take revenge.

Interesting side note: I've been able to avoid many a hangover by drinking lots and lots and lots and lots of water the same night.

my remedy is LOTS of water and aspirin the night before, and then repeat in the morning. i then eat pizza with extra sauce as soon as i can (i don't like V8) - tomato stuff helps.
a friend came up with a good drink: vodka and "Riptide Rush" flavor Gatorade - tasty and no hangover!

Hmmm...when there was only one flavor of Gatorade we called that mixture a Hoppin' Gator. Gatorade is designed to get into your system quick and it drags the alcohol right along at the same speed.

I think I know too much about this stuff. Maybe I should shut up now...

If I drink more than a few, I'll wake up early in the morning and not be able to get back to sleep. My muscles will be tense and my mind races with random thoughts. Anyone else have this problem?

You just need to drink more the night before...enough to pass out and stay that way until morning

BTW...drinking water is the best possible thing to do to prevent a hangover. They are caused by the dehydration that occurs in the brain due to the alcohol in the blood. All that extra water helps to rehydrate your brain, thereby counteracting the alcohols drying effect.

Alright, I've come to the conclusion. She's been drinking too much when I'm not around and suffering a same day hangover.
I'm sending her of to SVX rehab.
