Wonder if I need to replace my swaybar bushings?

Heh. Not quite brave (rich) enough to go to a full nascar style front swaybar setup, but I think while I'm sticking in the strongflex front swaybar bushings I'm going to swap over to different endlinks that connect to the lower A arm in the off chance I get around to throwing some coil overs on it later.

Dang, those look like they've been through a lot. There's really no reason to change the attachment point of the swaybar endlinks unless you intend to get a beefy front swaybar. If you do get coilovers, you can just have the endlink mounting tab on the strut body reinforced since you'll have to weld on the collars for the coilovers anyway. (Assuming you'd be going the Koni/Ground Control route, since anything else would be a one-off.)

If you look into having a front swaybar made, please let me know, I'd really like one.

Re: Wonder if I need to replace my swaybar bushings?

Well, I looked and despite having almost everything in place for a nice cheap NASCAR style swaybar... Subaru decided to make part of the subframe dip down and in the path needed to mount a large diamiter hollow bar in the stock swaybar location. I could rig something up for lowspeed AutoX that is below the car, but not too interested.

Maybe if one of the people with a local parts car wants to donate the subframe I could look into more exotic stuff like clearencing it for a proper swaybar.

The main reason I want to move the swaybar endlink attachment is that I want to look into the possiblity that once you do the new mount early impreza/legacy struts will work off the shelf. Some people have made swaybar collars for full coilover setups, and its not hard to do, yet moving it to the A-arm shouldn't be hard either.

I think you still have a few miles left on those.

You don't want a set of my polyurethane bushings?

Done with the bushings. Been lazy since the guy who is supposed to be pressing out the a arm bushings hasn't bothered to do it, so no hurry on this.

Re: Wonder if I need to replace my swaybar bushings?

Got it back on the road again today. Drives so so much better now. Quieter too.

On a separate note, the Strongflex front A-arm bushings go in nice and easy. Just make sure to instruct the shop pressing out your bushings to actualy press them out. The shop I took it to used a torch and so I had to spend some quality time cleaning and repainting the A-Arm.

I should be doing the rear swaybar bushings this weekend, so I should have some new comedy shots of really broken bushings from that end of my car.
