Re: fluid flywheel bolts...

I pull the throttle body to get to them with a shallow 6point 12mm socket.

OT usually removes the alternator and uses a large extension to get beck to the TC bolts...

Either way, you need to use caution otherwise you will round them off. It is also possible to get the bolts by going between the steering rack and the subframe with a ratcheting flew head 12mm wrench added with some creative positioning if it is absolutely needed.

Re: fluid flywheel bolts...

I've had and lost a lot of tools, but never heard of this one. What is it? When I removed my bolts I used an old obsolete Craftsman extension that has a lock button that keeps the socket from coming off and then used additional extensions.

Re: fluid flywheel bolts...

I used a 12mm 6pt wrench to break them loose, and I had a 12mm ratcheting wrench to get them the rest of the way out but I was able to get them out by hand. To put them back in, I used a telescoping magnetic pick up tool, stuff a rag down in the hole to keep the bolt from falling down inside the bell housing, put the magnet on the SIDE of the bolt and guide it into the hole with the magnet and your finger, and then hold the bolt in place and remove the magnet. Thread the bolt in by hand (Have to get it in pretty far, but you don't want it tight) and turn the engine over to the next hole and repeat. DO NOT tighten them until you get all 4 in or you won't be able to get the last one in.

But they have to be far enough that the bolt head doesn't hit things inside the bellhousing when you spin it to get the others. I usually tighten, then back out 1/2 a turn.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that part, happened to me when I did mine lol thought I was going to have to loosen the tranny up and slide it back to get it free but I just wiggled it and it rotated back the other way :P
