If you total your car, 90% of the insurance companies go by the prices of value as stated by NADA for compensation.

I never buy a car for more than what the NADA states for the car in the condition it's in. That way I know if it gets totaled on the way to the courthouse for registration, I'll at least get back what I pay for it.

Try to judge for yourself against NADA values.

I never use KBB or Edmunds values.

Yep I also go thru the NADA values, but there is not much flexibility of options in there. So, I rarely consider them. But now as u told tht it will be considered by the insurance companies, then it seems to be good to consider it too.

thanks,

Another thing to keep in mind Pavan, the insurance adjustor will ask what extras are on the car and how much they cost, so they do take "adders" into consideration as well.

Yeah, I know first hand - went through the "total" process already.

THe adjustor who field checked the wreck was pretty impressed with the condition of the interior and non smashed exterior parts as well, which is why I got the "high" end of the NADA - which was 2500 more than I paid for the car.

At present I am looking at a 1995 Audi 90 CS Quattro and the owner's asking price is $4200 which is below than KBB(considering good condition and is very near to fair condition) and NADA (considering average retail). But Edmunds is always way way below than any other values for any condition.

Lets see wht happens
