Advice please

Two questions basically but they could be connected. I have tried to search the forum for the answer but my system here at work won't let me access a lot of the pages on this forum plus my owner's manual has gone AWOL courtesy of the wife having a 'tidy up.'

So, question 1..........my car is hesitant at low speeds, when driving in town and the traffic opens up a bit and I press the accellerator to keep up I get a 1 to 2 second delay before the power comes in. Sometimes it is quite jerky, a little like the feeling you get just before an engine is about to stall but the car never stalls. Any ideas? I thought it might be gearbox woes but now I' beginning to think it's the engine instead.

Question 2.........I'm getting an error code flashing up when I turn the ignition. 16 flashes of the POWER light..........what does this mean and could it be linked to the other problem?

Your help would be really appreciated.

When the power light flashes 16 times, it's indicating that the TCU has detected an error in the transmission's electronics and is storing a code. The process for reading the code from the TCU is, undoubtably, on this site somewhere.

It's very possible that your two problems are related - we'll have a better idea once you find out what error the TCU has detected.

Edit: As it turns out, we have the process for reading stored fault codes from the TCU in the How-to locker:

Good luck!

Well I currently have the tranny resistor down by the battery disconnected to see if it improves the hesitation in accelleration. I take it this being disconnected could be causing the error code.
